I Colonel Birch commanded a wing of the 7th Bengal N. I. in quelling the Southall rebellion from Ilth July 185.')
to Feb. 1856. Served in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1H57-68, and present wiih Havelock's force in the action of
Mun:-'arwar, taking of the Alumbagh, entiy'into Lucknow .and defence of the Kesidency until relieved by Lord Clyde;
subsequently with Outram's force in the Alumhagli, and engaged at the several attacks on that position till 1st Fcb,
1858 (Medal with Clasp, and a year's service.'.
5 Miijor Harris served the Punjaub campaign of 1848 49, including the battles of Chillianwall»h and Goojerat(Medal with
two Clasps). Served as 2nd in command of the 2nd Bcnijal Kuropean Fusiliers throughout the siege of Delhi in 18.j7
(mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Alajor).
7 Majur Grfeme served in the Indian Mutiny camp.aign of 1857-59, as interpreter to the 2nd Batt. Rifle Brigade, and as
As'istant Commissary General to Sir Hope Grant's and Sir Alfred Horsford's Divisions, and was present at the final siege of
Lucknow (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp).
8 Captain Clark served the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including Ihe passage of the Chcnab, action of Ramnuggur,
and battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat (Med,al with two Clasps). Served in Burmah in 1853 (Medal). V\as attached to
the 88th Regiment during the operations at Cawnpore under General Windham in November 1857, and was very danger¬
ously wounded (Medal).
9 Captain Kccher served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat (Medal
with two Clasps). Served in the Indian Mutiny campaign, and commanded a detachment of the 8th Irregular Cavalry at the
repulse of rebels from Huldwanee, on the 18th Sept. 1857 (Medal).
II Captain Campbell served in the Santhal Campaign of 18.'i5-5B. Also at the defence of Saugor during the Indian Mutiny
in 1857-58 (Medal). • . . v •
14 Captain Hunter served at the siege of Delhi in 1857, including the battle of Budleekeserai, operations dunng the siege,
with final assault and capture of the city (Medal with Clasp). Also served with the Sikhim field force, under Lt.Col.
Gawler from2gth Dec. i860 to 26th May 186I.
