f) Captain Shinkwin served during the operations before Canton under Sir Michael Seymour in the latter part of 185G and
begiimingof 1S37, and was present at the attack and capture of F'ort Lin and the heights behind Canton on 28th Dec, and
lit the storming and capture of the city (wounded) on 'J9ih Dec. 1857; also at the affair at the White Cloud Mountains
and afterwards witli the expedition to the Gulf of Pecheli (Medal and Clasp).
('► Lieut. Hurge served as Aide do Camp to Colonel Graham at tlie assault and capture of Canton on 29th Dec. 1857;
accompanied the force to the I'oiho in June; was altoprescut at the assaultand cipture of Namtow on lUh .-iug. 1858
