1 Lieut General Drouclit served uninter¬
ruptedly for 41 years in tlie 15th Regt., tlie
last ten as Lt. Col. Comandiiig. He com¬
manded tlie entire of the troops in the
Kandian Provinces in Ceylon during the
successful suppression ol the Rebellion in
1848;—received the thanks of the Queen
and of the Local Government, and was
most honourably mentioned tliroughout in
the despatclies of the Governor and Com¬
mander in Chief. He was continued Com¬
mandant of tliose ]*rovinces for lour years
(two years longer than the usual period)
in consideration of the services he rendered.
On quitting the command the European
residents and the loyal cliitfs presented
him and hie Regiment with a most grati¬
fying address accompanied by a valuable
testimonial.
7 Major Butter served with the 93rd
Highlanders at ihe siege ar.d fall of Sebas-
lopol from 3rd June 1856 (Medal and Clasp,
and Turkish Medal). Served also the In¬
dian Campaign of 1857-58; was Orderly
Officer to Colonel Hon. A. Hope at the
relief of Lucknow—horse shot (Medal and
Clasp).
8 Sir -William Fairfax sen-ed with the 31 st
Regt. in the Crimea from 32nd May 1855 and
was present at the siege and tail of Sebastopol,
and attacks of the 18th June and 8th Sept.
(Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
9 Captain Goflf served with the 50th
Regt. at the siege and fall of Sebastopol
from 22 Aug. 1855 (Medal and Clasp, and
Turkish Medall.
10 Major Hopson served as Lieut. 10th
Hussars in the Crimean campaign of 1855
(Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, and
Turkish Medal).
