and Trans-Gogra affairs at Buiigaon; he commanded a squadron of tlie Bays and Diummond's
Police Cavalry (Natives) on a detatched opiration at Jamo, in conjunction with the remainder of
the Cavalry under Colonel Seymour ; and during tlie operations against Sirardas Sing near
Secrora he also had a squadron partly detached (mentioned in despatclies, Meiiul and Clasp).
•2li Major Sleh'elin served witii the 29th Regt. in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including
the battles of Fezoreshah and Sobraou (Modal and Clasp}. Served wiili the 67th Regt. in the
campaign of 1860 in Cbina (Medal).
215 Major W. G. D. Stewart served with the93rd Highlanders the Eastern campaign of 1854-65
including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal and three Clasps,
5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
216 Major Stillman served with the Carabineers in the Crimea from 14th Aug. 1855, including
the battle of Tchcrnaya, siege and fall oF Stbastopnl, and operations near Eupatoria (Medal
and Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Was at Meerut at the outbreak of tlie Sepoy Mutiny on lOih
May 1857 and served the campaign of that year, including the battles of the Hindun, siege and
fall of Delhi, and subsequent operations under Brigadier Showers (Medal and Clasp).
217 Major St. John served with the SJ2nd Highlanders in the Central India Campaign from
22nd Aug. 1858 to 31st March 1859 ; wasprescnc as Brigade Major at the affair of Rajghur, and
as A.Q.M. General at the affiirs of Mongrowlie, Sindwaho, and Korai (three times mentioned
in dispatches. Brevet of Major, nnd Medal).
218 Major Stocks served with the 1st Dragoons in the Crimea from 6th Oct. 1854, and was
present at the battles of Balaklava, Inkerman, and Tchernaya, siege and fall of Sebastopol
(Medal and Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
219 Major Van Siraubenzee served with tlie 32nd Regt.at the firstand second siege operations
before Mooltan, including tbe action of Soorjkoond ; ho was severely wounded on the 27th Dec.
1848 (Modal and Clasp). "Was present with the force under Sir Colin Campbell against the
Hill Tribes near Peshawur in May and June 1853. Served as Biigade Major in China, and
accompanied the expeditionary force to the North ; was present in every engagement from its
landing at Pchtang to the occupation of Pekiu (Medal with Clasp.s, and Brevet of Major).
220 Major D.Stuart served at the siege and capture of Kittoor in the East Indies in Dec.1824.
221 Major Studdert served with the 9th Lancers at the battle of Punniar on 29th Dec. 1843
(Medal).
222 Major Sykes served with the 48th Regt. at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from 2!st
April 1855 (Medal and Clasp, Brevet of Major, 5tli Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
223 Major Thellusson served with the Coldstream Guards at the siege and fall of Sebastopol
from 2nd May 1855 (Medal and Clasp, Brevet of Major, 6th Class of Medjidie, and Turkish
Medal).
224 Major C. Thompson joined the Persian expedition in March 1857 (Medal and Clasp).
Served in Bengal and N. W. Provinces in suppressing the mutiny in 1857-58 ; commanded the
escort which safely conveyed the treasure from Gya to Calcutta (thanked by the Governor
General in Council and by Lord Clyde); present in the operations at Cawnpore under General
Windliam, defence of Cawnpore and defeat of the Gwalior mutineers, and action of Kala
Nuddee (Brevet of Major, Medal).
225 Major Richard Tliomp-on served with the Gth Regt. in the Kaffir war of 1846-7. Also
in that of 1851-2-3 ; was present at the operations in the Waterkloof in Sept. 1851 and in
March 1852; and received a complimentary letter from Sir Harry Smith while in command
of Fort Grey, for recapturing with a very small party a number of cattle taken by the enemy
from the Government train (Medal). Served in the Indian campaign in 1858, including the
operations in the Jugdespore Jungle (Medal).
226 Major Thursby served with the 9th Regt. in the Crimea from 27th Nov. 1854, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assault on the batteries on the 18th June (Medal and Clasp,
and Turkish Medal).
227 Mnjor Tillbrook served in the Crimea with the 50th Regt. from 22nd Aug. 1855,
including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
228 Major Trevor served with the 4th Reg. the Eastern campaign of 1854 and up to 16 Feb.
1855, including the battles in the Crimea and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and
Turkish Medal).
229 Major Turner served with the 65th Regt. in New Zealand during the war of 1846, and also
throughout that of 1860-61,and was severely wounded in the action at Mahoetahi (Brevet of Major).
230 Major V(nables served with tlie 97th Regt. in Bengal in sujipressing the Mutiny in
1857-58, and was present in tlie actions of Nusrutpore, Chaiida, Umeerpore, and Sullaiipore,
siege and cajiture of Lucknow ; operations in Bundlekund and the Cliutttrpore tci'iitory in
1859, and commanded the Nowgong fi. Id force in the affair of Siileia (Medal and Clasp).
230t Major Walter sm'ved the Indian campaign of 1858-59 with the 53id Regt. and was
present at the passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad on 25ih Nov., the affair ol Bungoen, battle of
Tulseei ore (pt rformed t'lo duties of a mounted officer), and some minor affairs. Commanded
llic left wing of the 53rd in Sir A. Horsford's Column during tlie latter part of the Trans-Gogra
cam|)aign—twice mentioned in dispatches (Medal).
231 Major R. S. Warburtim served at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from 1st May 1866
(Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medbl_).
