161 Lt.Colonel Laurie served with the 4th Kegt. in the Crimea from 8th Nov. 1854, in¬
cluding the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and repulse of two sorties on llie niglit of 22xid Nov.

152 Lt.Colonel Meik served with the 10th Lancers throujlmnt the camiiaign in AfFghanistan,
under Lord Keane, including tlie seizure and capture of Ghuznee (Medal). He was also present
in the battle of Maharajpore (Medal), on the 29th Dec. 1843; and in 1846 he served iu the
campaign on the Sutlej (Medal), including tlie actions at Buddiwal, Aliwal, and Sobraon.
153 Lt.Colonel Hodgetts served in tlie Mahratta campaign in 1817-18 in the Decran.
154 Lt.Colond Sanderson served the Sutlej Campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of
Ferozeshah and Sobraon (Medal and one Clasp).
155 Lt.Colonel Ellerman served in the Peshawur Expeditionary force on the Euzofzio
frontier under Sir Sidney Cotton in April and May 1858, and at the affair with the Hindos-
tanee fanatics on the heights of Sultana on the 4th May.
156 Lt.Colonel M'Doniiell served throughout the Kaffir war of 1840-47 (Medal), during
which he commanded several successful skirmishing parties. Led the successful attack under
Sir George Berkeley against a large body of Kaffirs posted in one of their strongest positions at
the Sohoto Mountain, where they treaclierously murdered Major Baker and four other officers
two days previously. Was present in the action with and defeat of the insurgent Boers at
Boem Plaats 29th Aug. 1848, and on Major Armstrong being severely wounded he commanded
the Cape M. Riflemen during the latter part of the engagement.
157 Lt.Colonel Brown served in the 14th Hussars at the suppression of the Mutiny at Arung-
abad in 1857, and with the Central India field force under Sir Hugh Rose in 1858, and was
present at the siege and capture of Rahutghur, relief of Saugor, capture of Garrakota and
pursuit across the Beas, at Malthone, siege and capture of Jliansi, and commanded a Squadron
of the 14th Hussars with three Horse Artillery Guns detached on Special Service on 12tli Feb.
1858, and received the thanks of the Major General commanding for the good service per¬
formed by the detachment (Medal with Clasp).
158 Lt.Colonel Jackson was at the bombardment of Odessa 22nd April 1854. Served with
the R.M. Brigade in the Crimea at the battle of Balaklava and during the siege of Sebastopol
in 1864-55 (Medal and two Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Served on
the China expedition of 1857-59, including the blockade of the Canton river and as Major of
the Battalion at the landing before and storming of Canton (Brevet Major). Served with the
expedition to the North of China in 1801) (Medal and two Clasps).
159 Lt.Colonel Dillon served in the 30th Regt. at the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp,
Sardinian and Turkish Medals).
100 Lt.Colonel Boileau served with the force under General Wheeler in the Punjaub in
1848-49 (Medal). Also throughout the defence of the Residency of Lucknovv until relieved by
Lord Clyde (mentioned in dts))atches and thanked by the Governor General in Council, Brevet
of Major, Medal with Clasp, and 'j:rant of a year's service).
161 Lt.Colonel Bovill served with a detachment of 30 of the Ceylon Rifles, which defeated the
insurgents in the first and second attack on Kornegalle on the 30th and 31st July, during the sup¬
pression of the rebellion in the Kandian Provinces in 1848.
162 Lt.Colonel Hammersley served in the trenches at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and
assault of the 18th June (Medal and Clasp, Brevet Major, Sardinian Medal, 5th Class of the
Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
163 Lt.Colonel Craufurd served in 1855 with the siege train at the siege and fall of Sebastopol,
and bombardment of 17th June; was also with the Kertch expedition (Medal with Clasp, 5tli
Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
164 Lt.Colonel Wickham served at the siege of Sebastopol, and was severely wounded at the
attack on the Eedan on the 18th June (Medal and Clasp, Brevet Major, and Turkish Medal).
165 Lt.Colonel Speedy served the campaigns of 1841 and 42, in tho 13lh Light Infantry, and
was present at the storming of the Kho u'd Cabool Pass, affair of Tezeen, forcing the Jugdulluck
Pass, reduction of the fort of Mamoo Khail, defence of Jellalabad and sorties on the 14th Nov.
and 1st Dec. 1841, 11th March, 24th March, and 1st April 1842, and general action and defeat
of Akbar Khan. Medals for Jellalabad and Cabool.
166 Lt.Colonel Shervinton served in the 46th Regt. throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,
including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, sortie of 26th Oct., siege and fall of
Sebastopol. Having served uninterruptedly throughout the siege he was appointed to the Staff
at Balaklava, and subsequently to the command of the 1st Battalion Land Transport Corps (Medal
and Clasps, Brevet of Major, 6th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
167 Lt.Colonel Dallas served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1834-55, including the
battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, where he succeeded to the command of the two
Companies 46th Regt., siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps), Brevet of Major,
Knight of the Legion of Honor, oth Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
168 Lt.Colonel the Hon. C.W. St. Clair served with the 57th Regt. in the Eastern Campaign from
23rd Sept. 1854, including the battles of Balaklava and Inkerman (horse shot under him), siege
of Sebastopol, and attack on the Redan, 18th June—severely wounded ; acted as Assist.Adjutant
General to the forces on the Bosphorus, Dardanelles, &c., from July 1855 to Aug. 1856 (Medal
with tliree Clasps, Brevet of Major, Sardinian and Turkish Medals). Served in the New Zealand
war in 1861, and acted as Assistant Military Secretary and Aide de Camp to Sir Duncan
Cameron in New Zealand in 1862.
169 Lt.Colonel Gillum served with the 2nd Battalion Royals at the siege of Sebastopol from
22nd April 1855, and was severely wounded at the attack of the 8th Sept.—leg amputated
(Medal and Clasp, Brevet Major, Sardinian and Turkish Medals).
170 Lt.Colonel Bennet served the Eastern Campaign of 1854-55, including the affairs of Bul-
ganac and M'Kenzie's Farm, the battles of Alma (horse shot), Balaklava, and Inkerman
(horse killed), siege of Sebastopol and repulse of the sortie on the 26th Oct. 1854 (Medal
and Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medals).
