1 Sir William Mansfield served with the
rjSrd Regt. in the campaign on the Sutlej in
1846, and was present at Buddiwal, Alivval,
and Sobraon, at which last he acted as Aide-
de-Camp to the Commander-in-Chief (Medal
and Clasp). He commanded the Regiment
in the Punjaub campaign in 1849, and was
present at the battle of Goojerat (Medal and
Clasp). He was also constantly employed in
the operations on the Peshawur frontier in
18.')l-52 at times in command of the .')3rd and
again as attached to Sir Colin Campbell
commanding the Forces, and was present at
the affairs of Nawadund, Pranghur, and
Skarkote (horse wounded). In June IH.").') he
was attached to the Embassy at Constanti¬
nople, witli the rank of Brigadier General,
as responsible adviser of HerMajesty's Am¬
bassador, and in August proceeded to the
Crimea in his Excellency's suite; at the cun-
clusion of peace he was sent lo Warsaw as
Consul General with the same rank in Poland. On the out¬
break of Mutiny in Indiahewas nominated Chief of the Staff
in that country with the local rank of Major General, and
served throughout the war of 18.^)7-''y in that capacity, in¬
cluding the relief of Lucknow {KCB.), battle of Cawnpore
(wounded), advance on Futtehghur and action on the Kalee
Nuddee, the siege of Lucknow iMajor General), campaign in
Rohilcund, battle of Bareilly, and affairs at Shahjehanpore;
campaign in Oude in 1858-.'>9, actions of Doondea Khaira and
the Trans-Gogra campaign including the various affairs re¬
sulting in the complete subjugation of the Province of Oud«e
(Medal aud Clasp). For these «eryiee8 he received the thankt
of Parliament.

2 Colonel Willis was present with General Havelock's field force in the actions of Oonao and Buseerut Gunge on 29th
July 1857; commanded the 84th Regt. in the actions of Buseerut Gunge on the 5th Aug., Boorheeake Chowkee on 12th
Aug., at Bithoor on the 16th Aug., at Mungawar on 21st Sept., at Alumbagh on 23rd Sept., and relief of Lucknow ou
2.^th Sept. (wounded in left knee and right thigh): commanded the right column at the storming of the Him Khannah
on l6th Nov., and was thanked in Division Orders by General Havelock. Was with. General Outram's force at the Alumbagh
from 26 Nov. 1857 to 9 l\Iarcli 58—commanded the 84th up to 24th Jan.; present at the fall of Lucknow; accompanied
Gen. Lugard'sforce and present at the relief of Azimghur; proceeded with Brigadier Douglas's column in pursuit of the
rebel chief Koer Sing, and present in the actions of 17th and 20th April (mentioned in Dispatches, CB., and Brevets of
Major and Lt.Colonel, Medal and Clasps, and grant of a year's service for Lucknow).
-S Major Vance served at the siege of Sebastopol from Jan. to the 15th April 1855 (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
Also in the Indian campaign from Nov. 1857 and was present at the storm and capture of Meeangunge, siege and capture of
Lucknow, affairs of Barree and Nuggur (Brevet of Major, Medal and Clasp).
4 Blajor Hon. C. J. Addington served the Eastern campaign of 1854 and up to 26th June 1855, including the battles of
Alma and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June—severely wounded (Medal
ami three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian campaign from Nov. 1857 including
the assault and capture of Meangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, affairs of Barree and Nugger (Medal and Clasp and
Brevet of Major).
5 Captain Gaynorscrved the Eastern campaign of 1854 and until 25th April 1855, including the battles of Alma and Inker-
man, and siege of Sebastopol, and was shot through the leg in the trenches on 21st Feb. (Medal and three Clasps, and Sar¬
dinian and Turkish Medals). Served in the Indian campaign from Nov. 1857 including the battle of Cawnporc on 6th Dec. 57,
Msoult and capture of Mcanguntje, siege and capture of Lucknow, affairs of Barree and Nugger (Medal and Clasp).
