4 Lt.Col. Sarel served ivith the 9th Lancers
during the Punjaub campaign of 184S-49, in.
cludiuK the battles of Chillianwalbih and Goo-
jerat (Medal and Clasps). Alsothroughoutthe
Indian Mutiny in 1857-59, was present at the
siege and capture of Delhi, commanded the
caviilry of the force under General Nicholson
at the action of Nujiiffghur. and a squadron
at the Moiree Bastion on 14lh Sept., also at the
battle of Bolundshiihur where he was severely
wouuded whilst leading a charge through the
town, present at the actionsof Alyghur, Agra,
Kanoge, Maiaigunge, served as Brigade Major
of cavalry at the affair at the Alumbagh, as¬
sault of the Secundra Bagh, and the relief of
J,ucknow by Lord Clyde (Brevet of Major), battle of Cawnpore
on (;th Dec, actions at Seraighat and Kliodurgunge, occupation
of Fiittehghur, passage of the Goomtee under Outram, siege aud
capture of Lucknow, the summer campaign in Oude and Ro-
hilcund, actions at Uooya and Allygiinge, capture of Bareilly,
relief of Shahabad the repulse of the attack on it and pursuit
of Moliunidce; also with the cavalry in Oude under Sir Hope
Gogra and the subiiequent operations in
the Terai (thanked by the Governor
General in Council, and Tourteen times
mentioned in despatches, Medal and
Clasp). Acted on theStaft'of Sir Hope
Grant in China in I860 (Brevet of Lt.

1 MajorGeneral Balders served the campaign on tlie Sutlej in 184&-6, and commanded the 3rd Light Dragoons in the
battles of Moodkee and Ferozeshah (Medal with one Clasp, Brevet of Lieut.Colonel, and CB.). He was wouuded in the
groin whilst charging the enemy's batteries at Ferozeshah, on the evening of the 2lst Dec. 1845.
2 Lt.Colonel Drnry Lowe served in the Crimea from ISth June IH.iS, including the battle of the Tchernaya, siege and
fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Tuikish Medal). Served the Indian campaign of 1858-59 in pursuit of reliel
forces under Tantia Topee, and present at the action of Zerapore (MedalJ.
8 Major Hon. W. H. Curzon served in the Crimea from 13 July 1855, including the battle of the Tchernaya, siege
and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the campaign of 1858-59 in Central India, in¬
cluding the action of Burode (]\Iedal).
(i Captain Nolan served in the Indian campaign of 1858, including the affairs of Rnjghur, Mongrowlee, Sindwaho,
Kharee, and Zeerapore (mentioned in dispatches. Medal).
7 Captain Waymouth served in the campaign of 18SS-9 in Central India, including the affairs of Rajghur, Hon-
growlcc, Sindw.aho, Kharee, and Zeerapore (Medal).
8 Captain liainljridge served with a Squadron of the 17th Lancers m tlic Indian campaign of 1858 under Sir John Michel, in.
chidinir the affairs of Kajghur, Mongrowlee, Sindwalio, Kharee, and Zeeraporc (Medal).
9 Captain Gonne served in India in 1857-59; was appointed Acting Interpreter to the 17th Lancers and Staff Officer
to the '2ud Cavalry Column Mahva Division (mentioned in dispatches. Medal).
10 Captain Hattine, as a Lieut, in the Bengal Army, served with the Persian expeditionary force from Januaiy to June
1857, and was present at the bombardment and capture of Mohumrah (Medal). Served in Bengal with Havelock's column,
on the Staff of that General, and was present in the several actions leading to and ending in the relief of the Residency at
Lucknow on 25th Sept. 1857; also during the subsequent defence as a D.A.Q.M. Gen. to the force until its final relief by
Lord Clyde on 24th Nov. 1857 (Medal with Clasp, and a year's service).
