69 Colonel Mackay served with flie 68tli Refjt. on the expedition to\Valcheren,ond at the cap¬
ture of Flushing in 1809. Also in the Peninsula from June 1811 to the end of that war in 1814,
including tlie battle of Salamanca, retreat from Burgo?, and battles of Vittoria (wounded in the
head), the Pyrenees, tlie Kivelle, and Orthes, for which he has received the War Medal with
five Cinsps.
69t Colonel Master'commanded the 5th Fusiliers at the relief of Lucknow in ^'ov. 1857,
and .served with it in Oulram's force at the Alum Bagh in all the operations of the succeeding
months, and commanded the Regt. at the capture of Lucknow, as also throughout the Oude
campaign of 1858-59, including the action of Dounderkeira and Buxarghat, and capture of the
fort of Oomerea (several times mentioned in Dispatches, CB., Medal and Clasp, and a year's
service).
70 Colonel Monkland served with the 74th Highlanders in the Kaffir War in 1851 (Medal).
71 Lord James Murray served with the Scots Fusilier Guards the Eastern campaign from 18th
Oct. 1854 to the 23rd May 1855, including the battles of Balaklava and Inkernian, siege of Se¬
bastopol, and sortie of 26th Oct. (Medal and Clasps, 5th Class of the Jledji'Jie, and Turkish Medal).
72 Colonel Muter served in the Punjaub campaign in 1848-49, including the siege and cap¬
ture of Mooltan, battle of Goojerat, pursuit and surrender of Shere Singh, occupation of Attock
and Peshawur (Medal and two Clasps). Served the campaign of 1857-58 against the Mutineers
in India ; commanded a Wing of 60th Rifles at Meerut in suppressing insurgent villagers from
10th May to 26th Aug.; present with the 1st Battalion from 6th Sept. at the siege of Delhi,
assault and capture of the City on 14th Sept. with the final attack on and occupation of the
Palace on 20th Sept.—succeeded to the command of the attacking Column on Kishingunge on
14th Sept. on the full of Major Reid (Brevet Major). Served as D.A.Adj.Generalto the Roorkeo
Field Force under Brigadier Jones during the campaign in Rohilcund, including the actions of
Bugawalla and Nugena, relief of Morarhibad, action on the Dojura, assault and capture of
Bareilly, attack and bombardment of Shahjehaupore, defeat of the rebels and relief of the garri¬
son, capture of the fort of Bunnai, pursuit of the enemy to the left bank of the Goomtee, and
destruction of the fort of Mahomdee (Medal and Clasp, Brevet of Lt.Col.). Was on board the
troop ship " Eastern Monarch " when she blew up and was burnt on 3rd June 1859.
74 Colonel Ouvry served the Punjaub campaign of 1848-9 witti the 3rd Light Dragoons,
and commanded a squadron at the affair of Ramnuggur (horse shot under him); the passage
of the Chenab at Wuzeerabad on the 1st Dec. 1848, with the force under Sir Joseph Thack-
well ; and at the action of Sadoolapore, and battles of Cliillianwallah and Goojerat (Medal and
two Clasps). Commanded 9th Lancers before Delhi in 1857 until appointed as Aide de Camp to
Sir A. Wilson, whom he attended during the assault (received thanks of Governor General
in Council, Brevet LtCol., and CB.). After the fall of Delhi commanded the Cavalry Brigade
of the Moveable Column, including actions at Bolundshur, Allighur, and battle of Agra.
Commanded the Force at the action of Kanoj, and the Cavalry at the relief of Lucknow under
Sir Colin Campbell (thanks of Governor General in Council).
77 Colonel Patience was present at the suirender of Martinique and at the capture of the
Saintes and Guadaloupe in 1815.
78 Colonel Pratt served with the 82nd at the siege and capture of Copenhagen in 1807; in
Portugal and Spain in 1808-9, including the battles of Roleia and Vimiera, retreat to, and
battle of, Corunna, for which he has received the War Medal with three Clasps. At Walcheren
in 1809, and was severely wounded at the investment of Flushing. In 1813 he was appointed
to the Quarter Master General's staff of the army on the eastern coast of Spain, and served with
a portion of that army in Italy and in tlie South of France imtil the close of the war in 1814.
79 Colonel Ramsay served with the 49th Regiment in China (Medal) and was present at
Amoy, Chusan, Chinhae, Ningpo, Segoan, Woosung, Cbin-kiang-foo, and Nankin.
81 Colonel E. Birch Reynardson served with the third Battalion Grenadier Guards in the
Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and commanded the Grena¬
dier Guards at Inkerman (Horse shot), siege of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, CJB., and
Turkish Medal).
82 Colonel Kiddlesden served in the Peninsula with the Royal Horse Guards and was present
at the battles of Vittoria and Toulouse, for which he has received the War Medal with two
Clasps. He served also the Waterloo campaign.
83 Colonel J. M. Robertson served with the 25th Regt. at the taking of Madeira in 1807;
at the capture of Guadaloupe in 1810, and again in 1815.
84 Colonel Salwey served the campaigns of 1813 and 14, with the Coldstream Guards, and
was present at nearly all the actions in the Pyrenees, the crossing of the Bidassoa, capture of
St. Jean de Luz, battle of the Nivelle, heights of Bidart, crossing the Adour, investment of
Bayonne, and repulse of the sortie. He has received the War Medal with two Clasps.
86 Colonel Sillery proceeded to the East with the 30th Regt. in May 1854. Serv^ed at Scutari
as Commandant of the Depot formed at that station in June on the Army proceeding to Bulgaria,
and was Assist.Adj.General there from Nov. 1854 to Feb. 1856 when he was removed from the
30th Regt. and appointed by Commission Commandant of tne Hospital and Convalescent Estab¬
lishment at Scutari, which appointment he held tmtil the conclusion of the war. Served in New
Zealand during the Maori war of 1860-61 as Deputy Quarter Master General, was present at
several affairs, and was slightly wounded at Mahoetalii.
87 Colonel'Skipwith commanded the 43d Lt. Inf. in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal).
88 Colonel Hankey Smith served in the Kaffir war of 1846-47, and was severely wounded. In Sir
George Berkeley's General Order of 17th Dec. 1847 he was mentioned in the following handsome
terms:—"The Lieut.General begs to thank Major Smith, 73rd Regt., who has commanded the
