for the Crimea.
'■' Mr. J. T. Johnston served as a Cornet In the Turkish Contingent Cavalry during the Crimean war in 1855
(Medal). Served as a Deputy Assistant Commitsaiy General in the New Zealand war from 1863 to the end (Medal).
1* Mr. Mellish served on the Red River Expedition of 1870 and had Control charge of the Hudson Bay Post, Fort
Frances, during August and September. Served in the Ashanti war under Sir Garnet Wolseley (Medal).
'= Mr. W. H. Newland served in the New Zealand war of 1861 and 1863-66, taking part in the Waikato, Taranaki,
and Wanganui operations (Medal).
'^ Mr. Ravenscroft accompanied Sir Garnet Wolseley to the Gold Coast in September 1873, and served through¬
out the Ashanti war of 1873-74, including the battle of Amoaful and capture of Coomassie (mentioned in de¬
spatches, promoted Commissary, Medal with Clasp).
" Mr. R. G. D. Selby served'in the Crimea from 24th Jan. to April 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
'■' Mr. Knapp served in the Eastern campaign from January 1855 (Turkish Medal). Also throughout the China
war from 1857 to i860, and was present at the action of Sinho, taking of Tangkvi, capture of the Taku Forts, and
surrender of Pekin (Medal).
'"> Mr. Acheson served in New Zealand during the wars of 1860-61 and 1863-65, and was present at the relief of
and repulse of the night attack on No. 3 Redoubt on 23rd Jan. 1861, and in every action in which the 65th Regt.
was engaged in the war of 1860-61 (Medal).
*' Mr. Devine served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, i* tlie Royal Artillery and Turkish Contingent, including
the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, sortie of 26th Oct., attacks of the Redan on i8th June and 8th Sept.,
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and capture of Kinboiirn (Medal with four Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, an d
Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, and was attached to the 9th Lancers at the advance on
the Dilkoosha and La Martiniere and throughout the operations resulting in the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clj'de;
present during the occupation of the Alumbagh under Outram with the several engagements there, fall of Lueknow,
relief of Azimghur, capture of Jugdespore, and affair near Reotee; served with the Shahabad Field Force, and pre-
seiit in action on 14th 17th 20th 21st and 23rd Oct. 1858 (Medal with two Clisps, and a year's service for Lucknow).
2' Mr. Edridgo served in the Ashanti war under Sir Garnet Wolseley (Medal).
2' Mr. Irving served with the 4th Regt. throughout the Abyssinian campaign in 1868, and was present at the
action of Arogee and capture of Magdala.
25 Mr. F. W. Lundy served in the Ashanti war under Sir Garnet Wolseley and was in charge of Conyoy attacked
by Ashantis on 31st January 1874 (Medal with CIa,sp).
^ Captain Power served in the Commissariat throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, and was present at the
aiegc and fall of Sebastopol (Crimean and Tu.rki3h Medals).
