' General Yorke commanded the Royal Dragoons in the Eastern cajnpaign of 1854, including the siege of
Sebastopol, and was severely wounded at the battle of Balaklava, his horse also was severely wounded with grape-
shot in supporting the Light Cavalry charge prior to his own leg being shattered by a ritle-ball (Medal with two
Clasps, Ci?., Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 4th Class of the Medjidie). He commanded the Regt. during a
violent gale in the Black Sea between Varna and the Crimea, and this great disaster resulted in the loss of 250 horses
of the Regiment, including the greater part of the officers' chargers and those of detachments of other Regiments
under his command.
^ Lt.Colonel Webster served with Lind's Mooltanee Horse during the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, and
was present at Kakraole, operations before and capture of Bareilly, Shahjehanpore, and capture of Mohundee
(Medal). Received a letter of thanks from Government for services with Meerut Light Horse in 1857. Served
with the 19th Hussars throughout the Egyptian war of 1SS2, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (men¬
tioned in desii.itches, Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star).
* Lt.Colonel Barrow served throughout the Zulu war of 1879 in command of a squadron of mounted infantry and
some irregular mounted troops, and was present at the engagements of Inyezane and Gingindhlovu (mentioned in
<lespatches. Brevet of Major, CMG., Medal with Clasp). Served under Sir Evelyn Wood in the Boer war of 1881,
in command of the Mounted Infantry.
^ Major C. Smith served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the action at
Kassasin (9th September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
' Lt.Colonel Taylor served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of
Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and
Khedive's Star).
8 Major Hanford-Flood served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the action
at Kassasin (9th September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kcbir (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Major, Medal
with Clasp, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star).
3 Captain Jenkins and Lieut. Faushawo served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and were
present in the action at Kassasin (gth September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's
Star).
'" Captains Warde and Apthorp served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and were present in
the action at Kassasin on the 9ih September (Medal, and Khedive's Star).
'- Captain Barclay served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of
Tel-el-Kebir—wounded (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
" Lieut. Freeman served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of
Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
1^ Lieut. Aylmer served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the engagements
