* Lord Annesley served with the 43Td Light Infantry in the KaflBr war of 1831-52-53 (Medal), and was severely
wounded in right arm at the battle of Berea. Served with the Scots FusiUer Guards in the Eastern campaign
of 1854, including the battle of Alma—severely wounded (Medal vrith Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
5 Lt. Colonel A. B. Armstrong served at the capture of Genoa In 1814, and subsequently in the American war, in¬
cluding the capture of Washington, attack before Baltimore 13th Sept. 1814, and on New Orleans 8th Jan. 1815, where
he was wounded and taken prisoner. Present when Graham's Town was attacked by about ten thousand KafHrs 22ncl
A;)iil iSiQ, and who were repulsed with great slaughter by three hundred men under the command of Colonel
Wiltshire.' Commanded in the Kat River Settlement during the KaiHr war of 1834-35, and was thanked in General
orders for his defence of that locality against an attack of Kaffirs on the 19th Feb. 1835. Served also throughout the
whole of the Kaffir war of 1846-47, and was present at the attack on the Amatola, lOth April 1846, and two subsequent
days' engagement (Medal).
'' Lt.Colonel R. Armstrong served with the 40th Regiment in the New Zealand war of 1860-61, and was present
nt Puketakaurie, Mahoetai, Matarikoriko, and repulse of attack on No. 3 Redoubt. Also served in the war of 1S63-
65, and was present at Orakau (Medal).
'" Lt.Golonel Armytage served the Eastern campaign of 1S54-55 with the Coldstream Guards, including the battles
of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Brevet of Major, Medal with four Clasps, Knight
'Of the Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

'3 Sir F. T. A. H. Bathurst served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the Grenadier Guards, including
ithe battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkei-man, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the
Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
'• Lt.Golonel W. A. Battine served as Adjutant of the 16th Bengal Irregular Cavalryonthe Peshawur frontier and
was present in several expeditions against Momunds and Affredie hill tribes in 1S54-56 (ifedal with Clasp).
Served with the Persian Expeditionary Force from Jan. to June 1S57, and waspresentatthebonxbardment and cap¬
ture of Mohumrah (Medal with Clasp). Served in Bengal with Havelock's column, on the Staff of that General
and was present in the actions of Onao, Busseerutgunge (ist and 2nd), Boorbeakechowkee, and Bithoor, and in
the several actions leading to and ending in the relief of the Residency of Lucknow on 25th Sept. 1857 ; also
during the subsequent defence as D. A.Q.M. General to the force until the final relief by Lord Clyde on 24th Nov.
1857 (Medal with Cl.asp, and a year s service).
'5 Lt.Colonel Bazalgetto landed in India with the 37th Regt. in June 1S57, and served there until the suppression
of the mutiny, being engaged with the enemy on several occasions (Medal).
^' Lt.Colonel G. G. Beazley served with the Force which attacked and destro.yed the town of Malageah, West
Coast of Africa, in May 1855. Served with the 83rd Regiment during the suppression of the Indian Mutiny, and
was present at the att'air of Sanganeer 8th August 1858, defeat of the GwaUor rebels at Kotaria, surprise and
attack of the rebels at Secknr (Medal with Clasp for Central India).
" Lt.Colonel Bell-Martin served with the gth Lancers, either in command of a Troop or Squadron, during tba
Indian mutiny in 1857-59, including the battle of Budlekeserai, siege assault and capture of Delhi (horse shot on
14th September). On the Cavalry Staff with General Greathed's Column in the actions of Bolundshuhur and Ally-
ghur, and battle of Agra. Present at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore and pursuit of the
Gwalior Contingent on the 6th December, actions of Seraighat and Khudagunge, capture of Meeangunge (as
Brigade Major of Cavalry), action of Kalee Nuddee and occupation of Futtyghur, siege and capture of Lucknow,
the summer campaign in Oude and Rohilcund, and actions at Rhodamow and AUyghur, capture of Bareilly, action
at Shahjehanpore, and pursuit to Mahomdee (four times mentioned in despatches. Medal with three Clasps).
'" Lt.Colonel the Hon. G. A. V. Bertie served with the 24th Regiment in the Zulu war of 187^^ (Medal with Clasp).
'' Lt.Colonel Bertram served with the 41st Regt. in the Crimean campaign from the 6th Feb. to the 7th Sept. 1855,
including the siege of Sebastopol (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
-' Lt.Colonel G. M. Billington served with the 4th Regt. in the Crimea subsequent to the fall of Sebastopol
from the 18th March 1856. Also with it during the-Indian campaign of 1857-58, and was severely woimded in
the attack on the Fort on Beyt Island on the 2ud of April 1858 (Medal).
'^ Lt.Colonel Blennerhassett served vrith the 71 st Light Infantry in the Canadian rebellion. Also in the Crimean
campaign from 20th Dec. 1854 to 13th Feb. 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Torkiab
Medal). Served in the Indian campaign under Sir John Michel, and was present at the actions of Raijghnr (im
command of the Left Wing 71st), Mungrowlee, Sindwaho, and Kurai (Medal with Clasp, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, and
mentioned in despatches).
2'Lord Blythswood served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimea from the 22nd May to the end of
Aug. 1855; was present at the siege of Sebastopol, and wounded in the Trenches by a shell on the 22nd Aug. 1833,
Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
-* Lt.Colonel Edward Bond served with the 53rd Regt. in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, and was present at the
affair of Buddiwal, and actions of Aliwal and Sobraon (Medal and Clasp).
*'^ Lt.Colonel Henry Bond sorvedin the 17th Light Dragoons at the takingofAnjar in Cutch in 1816; also through¬
out the Mahratta campaign of 1817-18. He was present with the nth Light Dragoons at the siege and capture of
Bhurtpore in 1825-26 (Medal). Accompanied the 3rd Light Dragoons into Affghanistan with the Ibrce under Sir
George Pollock, and was present at the forcing of the Khyber Pass, and in every engagement in the advance of the
Army on Cabool; also commanded the Rear Guard on three different occasions,—engaged the enemy at Tezeen and
JugduUuck, and safely covered and protected the whole of the baggage of the Army, notwithstanding the repeated
attacks of the enemy (Medal).
^ Lt.Colonel J. G. Hay-Boyd served the Eastern campaign of 1854-35, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava,
and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, affair of 18th June, and capture of Kmboum (Medal with four Clasps,
Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
3* Lt.Colonei Hon. W. G. Bo.yle served the Eastern campaign of 1854 as Aide de Camp to Sir De Lacy Evans, in¬
cluding the battles of Ahna and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Brevet of Major, Medal with three Clasps, 5th
Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
'5 Lt.Colonel Bramston served with the Rifle Brigade in the Kafir war of 1852-53 (Medal). Also the Eastern cam¬
paign of 1854, and up to 6th Aug. 1855, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and lukei-man, and siege of Sebas-
»opol (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turldsh Medal).
'■" Lt.Colonel A. Bravo was employed at Cape Coast Castle in 1873-74 (Ashanti Medal).
^" Lt.Colonel J. D. Brockman entered the Royal Navy in 1847; was actively employed during the Kaffir war of
1851-52 (Medal). Served in H.M.S. Mermes at the first attack on the stockades in the Rangoon river, was present
^t the attack and taking of Martaban and afterwards at the storm and capture of Rangoon nth April 1852 (Medal
with Clasp for Pegu). Afterwards was in several actions with pirates on the co 1st of China. Operations against
rebel tribes in Guzerat in 1857. Served with the 86th Regiment in the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugk
Rose from Feb. 1858 to Jan. 1859, including the capture of the strong Hill Fort of Chandaree; siege, storm, and
capture of Jhansi, action of Koonch. operations beiore Calpee, battle of Gowlovvlea, capture of Calpee, battle of
Morar, and capture of Gwalior; captured a battery of 3 guns on the Heights before GwaUor and turned them on
the enemy; commanded a Detachnient of 100 men formmg part of a Flying Column sent in pursuit of Feroze Shah
and Tantia Topee (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).
** Lt.Colonel W. J. Brook served with the 30th Regiment in the Crimea from 8th September 1S55, as D.A.Q.M.G.
4rh Division (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
** Lt.Colonel R. W. Brooke served with the 1st Battalion 60th Rifles during the second siege operations at Mooltan,
including the siege and storm of the town and capture of the citadel of Mooltan; afterwards present at the battle of
Goojerat, pursuit of the Sikh Army under Rajah Shere Sing until its final surrender at Rawul Piadee, occupation
of Attock and Peshawur, and expulsion of the Affghan Force under the Ameer Dost Mahomed beyond the Khyber
Pass; was wounded at Mooltan 27111 Dec. 1848 (Medal with two Clasps). Served also in the Kafiir war of 1851-53
(Medal). Served as Brigade Major to Brigadier General Staveley during the China campaign of i860, and the sab-
aequent occupation of Tientsin and capture of the Taku Forts (Brevet of Major, Medal with Cla»p).
*" Lt.Colonel C. B. Brown served with the 63rd Regiment at the assault of the Redan and fall of Sobastopol,
also at the bom'oardmont and surrender mlvinooum ^Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
