' Major E. Gladstone served with the Baltic Expedition in 1854 (Medal). Also in the Black Sea in the latter part
.' 1855, and until the declaration of peace in 1856.

' Major J. G. Shanks served with the R. M. Battalion at Eupatoria in 1854, and with the Brigade in the Crimea
during the siege of Sebastopol in 1855 (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
^ Major A. Cook was employed with a detachment of the 32nd Madras Native Infantry that formed part of the
force in the field to intercept the rebels under Tantia Topee from 9th November 1858. Was engaged in the pursuit
of insurgent Shans on the north-eastern frontier of Tenasserim and Martaban Provinces during May i860.
* Major E. A. Smith served with the Jowaki Afreedee Expedition m 1877-78 (Medal with Clasp). Served in
the Afghan war of 1878-80, and was present in the engagements at Mattoon and Lataband (mentioned in despatches),
and in the operations round Cabul in December 1879; accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar,
and was present at the battle of Candahar (mentioned in despatches. Medal with two Clasps, and Bronze Decoration).
Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1888-89 (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Major, and Clasp).
'" Major Du Boulay served in the Egyptian war of 1882 in command of the Signallers of the Cavalry Divisicn,
and was present in the engagements at El Magfar and Mahsama, in the two actions at Kassasin, and at the battle
of Tel-el-Kebir and the capture of Cairo (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
'* Major Gompertz served with the 67th Regiment in the Afghan war of 1878-80, and was present in the
engagement at Charasiab on the 6th October 1879, and in the operations around Cabul in December 1879 including
the investment of Sherpore (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the Burmese Expedition in 1887-89 with the ist
jBattaUon Hampshire Regiment (Medal with Clasp).
