33 War Services of the Colonels.
"^ Colonel H. M'Calmont served in the Bed River Expedition in 1870 (brought home the despatches). Accom¬
panied Sir Garnet Wolseley to the Go"d Coast in September 1873, as Aide de Camp (Ashanti Medal). Was
appointed a military attach^ to the British Embassy at Constantinople on the outbreak of the Russo-Tiirkish
war in 1877, and accompanied the Turkish armies in the field throufjhout the campaign in Armenia (Brevet cf
Major). Accompanied Sir Garnet Wolseley to South Africa as Aide de Camp in 1879, and was present in the
