1 Sir Daniel Lysons served in Canada during the rebellion in 1S38-39, including the actions of St. Denis
(mentioned in despatches) and St. Eustache. Was mentioned in despatches and general orders on the occasion
of the wreck of the transport Premier on 4th November 1S43 : promoted in consequence. Served the Eastern cam¬
paign of 1S54-55 ; was present at the battles of Alma (mentioned in despatches) and Inkerman, the minor affairs
of Bulganac, Jl'Kenzie's Farm, capture of Balaklava. and throughout the whole siege of Sebastopol; led the
main Column of attack on the Redan by the Light Division on the i8th June, and commanded a Brigade in the
litter part of the action (slightly wounded, mentioned in despatches); was engaged in the final assault of the
H.dan on the 8th September (severely wounded, mentioned in despatches); commanded the 2nd Brigade Light
! Uvii-ion from October 1835 to the end of the war (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Colonel, C£., Officer of the
Legion of Honour, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 3rd Class of the Medjidie).
3 Lt.Colonel Sparkes, Majors Thompson, Coney, and Taylor, Captains Evans and Shaw served with the
2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star).
= Major Hume served in the Sikkim Expedition in i858 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was
oresent in the engagement at the Jelapla (Medal with Clasp).
' ^ Major Smith-Dorrien served in the Zulu war in 1879, and was present in the engagements at ISanhlwana and
TJlundi (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war or 1882 in command of the
Mounted Infantry (which he raised) with Sir Evelyn Wood's Brigade (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the
Soudan campaign in 1885 with the Mounted Infantry (Clasp); also served with the Soudan Frontier Field Force
in 1885-86 including the investment of Kosheh and the engagement at Giniss (mentioned in despatches, SSO.,
and 4th Class of the Medjidie). In 1887 he was nominated to the 4th Class of the Osmanieh for services with the
Egyptian Army.
» Captain N. L. Pearse served in the Egyptian war of 1SS2 with the 2nd Battalion of the Irish Regiment, and
was present at the action at Kassasin on the gth September and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp,
and Khedive's Star).
3 Captain Wylly served with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 18S2 (Medal, and
Khedive's Star). Served in the Sikkim Expedition in 1S8S with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, part of
the time in command of a detachment, and was present in the engagements at Jeluk, Gnathong, and the Jelapla
(mentionf d in despatches. Medal with Clasp).
'" Ca])tain Godley served in the Sikkim bxpedition in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and
was present in the engagement at the Jelapla (Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Gosset served with Barrow's Mounted Infantry in the Boer war of 1881. Served as Adjutant 2nd
■Rattnlion Derl)vshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1S82 (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the
Sikkim Field Force in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was present in the engagement at
Gnathong iMedal with Clasp).
" Cai)tnin Jenkinson served with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-87, and was severely wounded in an engage¬
ment on the Qth August 1887 (Medal with Clasp).
'* Captain Tyi-whitt-Walker served in the Bgji)tian war of 1S82 with the ist Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, and
was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).

Modal, Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the Modjidie. and Khedive's Star). Served in the Nile E.xpedition m 1S84-85
with the 2nd Hattiilion of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, and took part in the operations of the Advance
Column under Major General Earle (Clasp); also served in the operations of the Soudan Frontier Field Force
in 1887 including the engagement at Sarras.

19 Captain Stopford served with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal,
and Khedive's Star). Served in the Sikkim Expedition in 1888 as Adjutant to the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire
Regiment, and was present in the engagement at the Jelapla (Medal with Clasp).
