' General Foster served with the i6th Lancers during the campaign in Affghanistan under Lord Keane,
including the siege and capture of Ghuznee (Medal with Clasp). He served also at the battle of Mahurajpore,
9th Doc. 843 (Bronze Star); and in the campaign on the Sutlej m 1846, including the battles of Buddiwal, Aliwal
(as Aide de Gamp to Brigadier Cureton), and Soljraon (Medal and Clasp).
' Lt.Colonel Babingtou served with the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 1884-85.
' Captain Aylmer served in tho Ashanti war from the 30th Novemljer 1873 ; commanded the Cape Coast Volunteers
of Wood's Regiment, witli the advanced guard under Major Furze during the inarch to the Prah; and afterward.s
commanded the post of Essiaman on the line of communications (Medal with Clasp).
* Major James served with the 17th Lancers in the Zulu war of 1879, ^i^d ^''^'^ present in the engagement at
TJlundi —wounded and charger wounded (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 as Aide de Camp
to Lt.General Willis, Commanding the ist Division, and waspresent at the engagements of El Magfar, Tel-el-Mahuta
and Kassasin (gth Sept.) and in the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Major, Medal with
Clasp, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star). Served with the expedition to the Soudan in 1885 as Deputy
Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master Generalfrom the i6th March to the iSth April; afterwards organised and
commanded the Camel Corps; was present in the engagement at Hasheeu and at the destruction of Temai (men¬
tioned in despatches. Clasp).
' Captain Wyndham Quin served with the Inniskilling Dragoons in the Boer war of 1881.
1° Lieut. Symonds served in the Zulu war in 1879 with the 17th Lancers, and was present in the cavalry affair
Sit Brzungay'an and in tho engagement at Ulundi (Medal with Clasp).
