1 Sir Richard Taylor served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 (save the interval between gth Feb. and 15th
June 1855) with the 79th Highlanders, including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, and full siege of Sebastopol
(Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Comm.andod tlie ygtli Highlanders from
Peh. to i6th Nov. 1858 in the Indian campaign, including the siege and capture of Lucknow, and commanded a
Brigade in Oude from Nov. 1858 to Jan. 1859 (mentioned in despatches, CB., Brevet of Colonel, Medal with Clasp).
' Lt.Colonel Everett served with the 79th Highlanders in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the siege and
capture of Lucknow, attack on the Fort of Rooyah, actions of AUygunge, Bareilly, and Sliahjehanpore, capture of
Forts Bunniar and Mahomdie, passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad, capture of Rampore Knssia, and subsequent
operations in Oude across the Gogra and Raptee rivers (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). ServecJ
throughout the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the Cameron Highlanders (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of
Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served throughout the operations of the Soudan Frontier
Field Force in 1885-86 with the Cameron Highlanders, and was present at Kosheh during its investment, com¬
manded the reconnaissance of the i6th December, and the right attack on the village of Koslieh in the engagement
at Giniss (mentioned in despatches, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and D.SO.).

Master on the Staff of Lieut.General Hamley from Ismailia to Cairo ; was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir
(Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
'0 Major Chalmers served with the Cameron Highlanders throughout the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present
at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star); also served tbroyghout the Nile Expedition
in 1884-85 with the Cameron Highlanders (Clasp). Served in the operations of the Soudan Frontier Field Force in
1885-86 with the Cameron Highlanders, and was present at Kosheh during its investment and at the reconnais¬
sance on the i6th December—severely wounded (4th Class Osmanieh for active and distinguished service in thp
field in saving the life of Major Hunter, in doing which he was wounded).
