MajorGeneralF.W. Lambton landed in the Crimea in Sept. 1855, and served with theyistHighlandersin the
irenches at the siege of Sebastopol, and was present at its fall (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served
m the Central India campaign in 1858-39, and was present at the taking of Fort Nahargah (mentioned in des¬
patches. Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).
^ Sir H. P. Ewart commanded the Household Cavalry in the Egyptian war of 1ES2, and was present iu the
engagements at El Magfar and,Mahsaraa, in the two actions at Kassasin. and at the battle of Tel-e!-Kebir (three
imes mentioned m despatches, CB., Medal with Clasp, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star). Served in
the bondan campaign m 1885 as Brigadier General in command of the Cavalry Brigade—horse shot (mentioned in
despatches, XCS., and Clfisp).
'"â– Major General.R. CWhitehead served with the 97th Regiment in the Crimea from the 20th Nov. 1854, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and was of the stormingparty at the assault of the Redan on the 8th September-
mentioned m despatches for "distinguishedconduct" (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkifh
Medal). Commanded the 58th Foot in the Zulu war of 1879, and was present in the engagement at Ulundi (men¬
tioned in despatches, CB., Medal with Clasp).
