modation from the Court of Kheva to the Court of Russia. Was cut down in a night attack on the banks of the
■Caspian Sea, and detained a prisoner, but ultimately completed the negotiation at St. Petersburg (received the
thanks of H.M. Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Dooranoe Order of the 3rd Class). Reduced to submission the
mountaineers of Uuzara in armed rebellion against tho Government. On the Sikh Governor of Huzara, with two

raised the population of Huzara, and, after many small affairs, remained master of tho district and of nearly all the

ture of Bareilly, and with Brigadier Troup's Column in Oudo iii 1036-59, including engagements of Modhypore,
Russulpore, Mitowlee, Aligunj and Biswah. Commanded Columns nt tho action of Mehndi (where all the enemy's
guns were captured), and in pursuit of Ferozo Shah through Oude towards Central India (repeatedly mentioned in
^.despatches, received thanks of the Government of India, Medal with Clasp, CB., and Brevet of Colonel).
