' General Yorke commanded the Royal Dragoons in the Eastern campaign of 1834, including the siege of
Sebastopol, and was severely wounded at the battle of Balaklava, his horse also was severel3' wounded with grape-
shot in supporting the Light Cavalry charge prior to his own leg being shattered by a rifle-ball (Medal with two
Clasps, CB., Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 4th Class of the Medjidie). He commanded the Regt. during a
violent gale in the Black Sea between Varnaand the Crimea, and this great disaster resulted in the loss of 250 horses
of the Regiment, including the greater part of the officers' chargers and those of detachments of other Regiments
under his command.
2 Lt. Colonel Barrow served throughout the Zulu war of 1879 in command of a squadron of mounted infantry and
some irregular mounted troops, and was present at the engagements of Inyezane and Gingindhlovu (mentioned in
despatches, Brevet of Major, CMG., Medal with Clasp). Served under Sir Evel3'n Wood in the Boer war of i8Si,
in command of the Mounted Infantry. Served in the Scnulau Expedition in 18S4 under Sir Gerald Graham with
the igth Hussars, and was present in the engagement at El Tcb—dangerously wounded (mentioned in despatches,
CB., Medal with Clasp, and IChedivc's Star).
3 Lt.Colonel Taylor served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of
Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and
Khedive's Star). Served in the Soudan Expedition in 1884 as Brigade Major to the Cavalrj-Brigade, and was
present in the engagements at El Teh and Temai (mentioned in despatches, two Clasps).
* Major C. Smith served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the action at
Kassasin (gth September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).

8 Captain Warde served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the action at
Kassasin on tho gth September (Medal, and Khedive's Star).
" Captain Apthorp served with the 19th Hu.ssars in the Egyptian war of 18S2, and was present in the action at
Kassasin on the gth September (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the Soudan Expedition in 1884 with the
igth Hussars, and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai (two Clasps).
'" Captain Aylmer served with the igth Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the engage¬
ments at El-Magfar and Mahsama,audat the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served
in the Soudan Expedition in 1884 with the igth Hussars, and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai
(two Clasps).
" Captain Fox served as Adjutant with the igth Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1S82, and was present in the
action at Kassasin (gth September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
'* Captain Wdson served with the 4th Dragoon Guards iu the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the
engagement at Tel-el-Mahuta, the two actions at Kassasin, and the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, 5th
Class of the Medjidio, and Khedive's Star).
