'»' Doctor A.'E. T. Longhnrst served in theCrimean campaign of 1854-55, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal
with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Sei-ved also m the Indian campaign of 18^8-59, and was present in the actions at
Jugdesporc (mentioned in despatches for " untiring zeal and courageous attention throughout the day ") and Tool-
sepore (Medal).
I'Js Mr. M'Donald served with the 25th Regiment on the expedition against the insurgent Boers and taking of Port-
Natal in June 1842. Also with the 73rd Regiment throughout the Kaffir war of 1S51-53 (Medal), and accompanied
the expedition into Kreli's country in Dec. 1851 as Senior Medical Officer.
"'■» Mr. D. C. M'Fall served as Acting Assistant Surgeon on board H.M. s.s. James M'att during the Baltic
Expedition of 1854-55 (Medal).
2"' Doctor Robert M'Nab served in suppressing the Indian mutiny in 1857-58, and was present with the 64th Regi¬
ment in operationsat Cawnpore under General Windham, defeat of the Gvralior mutineers on the 6th December,
action at Khalee Nuddcc, and entrance into Puttehghur (Medal).
'"'- DoctorB. L. M'Sheehy served in medical charge of the ist Dragoon Guards in China throughout the campaign
of i860, including the action of Sinho, the fall of the Taku Ports, the actions of the i8th and 21st September, and
surrender of Pekin (Medal with Clasps).
^"^ Mr. A. Maclean served the Easteru!oampaign up to the 30th Oct. 1854, and from 17th Feb. 1855, including
the battle of Balaklava, expedition to Kertch and Yenikale, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps,
and Tarkish Medal). Served the campaign of 1857-58 against the mutineers in India, including the actions at
Khodagunj and Shumsabad, siege and fall of Lucknow, attack on the Port of Rooyah, action at AUygunge, and
capture of Bareilly (Medal with Clasp).
^"■' Mr. J. Madden served with the 43rd Light Infantry in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal.)
-"'^ Mr. R. W. Meade served with the 88tli Regiment at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from ist Dec. 1854 and
assault of the Redan on the 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in suppression of the
India,n mutiny in 1857-58, including the affair of Bhognapore, siege of Lucknow in March, and siege of Calpec
(Medal with Clasp tor Central India).

=»" Mr. O. B. Miller served with the 77th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including-
the battles c)f Alma and Inkerman, capture of Balaklava, assaults on the Redan of the i8th June and 8th September-
siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
-<«< Mr. H. Mitchell served in the Crimea from the 8th Nov. 1854 to iSth Feb. 1855 (Medal with Clasp for
Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal).
21° Mr. C. B. Mosse served in medical charge of the expeditionary force up the River Gambia in June 1S66,
and was present at the assault and capture of the stockaded town of Tubarcolong. Promoted Staff Surgeon "in
consideration of his valuable services during the epidemic of the yellow fever at the Gambia." Served from June
1873111 the Ashanti war of 1873-74. including the action of Essaman (mentioned in despatches). Was in Medical
Charge of Wood's Regiment and the Troops commanded by Colonel Wood at the head of the road when following
the enemy from Mansu to the river Prah, including the reconnais.sance of the 27th November. Present at the
battle of Amoaful, battle of Ordahsu, and capture of Coomassio (mentioned in despatches, Ci?., Medal with Clasp).
2" Mr. E. O'Connell served in the NewZealand war of 1863-66; in the Waikato campaign, and had medical
charge of the Right Wing of a Fij-ing Column under Major Rutherford, 70th Regiment, from Jan. to April 1864 ;
East Coast campaign, and present at the Gate Pah and Te Raiiga engagements (mentioned in despatches) ;
General Chute's expedition from Wanganui to Taranaki and back, and present at the attacks on Okotuku, Putahi,
Otapawa, Kitioniti, Pnkiti, Keteraaria, Waikoko, and Merimeri (Medal).
212 Doctor D. O'Donovan was in medical charge of the 54th Regiment during the burning of the steam transport
Sarah Sands at sea on the i ith Nov. 1857. Served with a force against the hostile Indians of Yucatan in April and
May 1861.
213 Mr. R. J. W. Orton served on the Medical Staff in the Crimea from the 23rd Feb. to 12th Sept. 1855 (Meda'j
with Clasj) for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 44th Regiment during the campaign in the north
of China in i860 (Medal with Clasp for Taku).
2'5 Mr. J. C. Ovens served with the 9th Regiment in the Crimea from 13th Nov. 1854, including the siege and fall
of Sebastopol, and assault of the batteries on the i8th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
^ii" Mr. T. Park served with the Royal Artillery in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Inker-
man, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie on the 26th Oct. 1854 (Medal with two Clasps, Knight of
the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal).
2'8 Mr. L. O. Patterson served in medical charge of a field force against the rebel Kareens in Bnrmah, and was
present in six engagements. Served in India during the mutiny in 1858-59; was in medical charge of the Arrah
Field Force Irom June to Oct. 1858, and present ia action at Sirthooa (wounded), Julpoora, Brahminaguuge,
Rampore, Perowra, Jumaon, Karrisath, and Jugdespore ; volunteered to overtake Lt.Colonel Sir H. Havelock and
take medical charge of his Cavalry ; present with them at the charge and action at Neenadee, present again with
the field force in the last action'at Mahoolan,and in several other minor skirmishes (three times mentioned in
despatches. Medal).
2i» Mr. W. Perry served with the Royal Artillery throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the
battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of the 26th Oct. 1S54 (Medal with three
Clasps, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
2-" Doctor W. H. Pollard served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 93rd Highlauders.
including the affair of Bulganac, battles of Alma and Balaklava, capture of Balaklava, expedition to Kertch and
Yenikale. siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attacks of the i8th June and 8th September (Medal with three Clasjis,
Turki.sh Medal, and 5th Class of the Medjidie). Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58 (his Regiment being at
homo), including the siege and capture of Lucknow, operations in Shahabad, action at Sukreta, capture Jugdes¬
pore, and subsequent operations in Oude; and in medical charge of a Column in Central India under Brigadier
Showers in 1858 (Medal with Clasp).
221 Mr. G. B. Poppelwell served on the Staff in the Crimean campaign of 1854-55, and was present with the 31st
Regiment at the Biege of Sebaatopol, and attack of the Redan on the i8th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish
Medal). Served with the 84th Regiment from the commencement of the Indian mutiny,and was present with
Havelock's Force in the actions of Mungarwar and Alumbagh, relief of Lueknow and its.subsequent defence; with
Outram's Force at the Alumbagh including the repulse of numerous attacks, at the siege and capture of Lncknow,
and with the 90th Light Infantry during the subse<inent operations in Oude (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's
service for Lucknow. Thanked in Orders at Cawnpore by Brigadier General Neil for " his unwearied attention
and exertion to his numerous patients and his excellent hospital arrangements in treating so many sick and
wounded"). Served in the New Zealand war in 1864 66 (Medal).
222 Doctor C. W. Poulton served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 (Medal).
22* Mr. A. Reid served with the Royals in the Crimea from the 15th July 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebas¬
topol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
22« Mr. W. J. Rendoll served with the 41st and 55th Regiments in the Crimea from loth March 1855, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in India during the mutiny
of 1857-59; ]ireseut in medical charge of two Batteries of Royal Artillery at the action of Secundra (Medal).
Served with the 55tli Regiment on the Bhootau expedition in 1865 (Medal with Clasp).
228 Doctor Frederick Robinson served with the Scots Fusilier Guards throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,
including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of the 26th Oct.
1854 (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidio, and Turkish Medal).

231 Doctor W. M. Skues served as Principal Medical Officer on the Expedition from Aden into Arabia against
the Arabs in 1865-66.
