"' Colonel C. H. Clay served in Beatson's Horse in 1858-59 in the pursuit and various operations against
Tantia Topee and the Hao Sahib; present at the cavalry affair with Tantia's rear-guard at Bajrode on 26th October
1858 (Modal).
'*' Colonel H. P. Close served as second in command of the 5th Goorkha Regiment vrith a force under the com¬
mand of Brigadier General Chamberlain for the subjugation of the Mahsood Wuzeer tiibein 1S60, including actions of
Palloseen and Burrura Tungee. Served as 2nd in Command, and afterwards ns commandant of the 5th Goorkhas
during the whole of theUmbeyla campaign in 1863 (contusion, and mentioned in despatches). Commanded the 5th
■Goorkhas during the operations of a force under Brigadier Wilde in January 1864, for the subjugation of the Rajah
■of Gnndup, in Eusofzai. Commanded the 5th Goorkhas during the several offensive and defensive operations of a
force under Colonel Rothney in Agrore, which resulted in the total defeat of the enemy on the 12th August 1868.
Commanded the 5th Goorkhas during the ascent and descent of the Black Mountain by a force under Major General
Wilde in October 1868. Commanded the 5th Goorkhas during the secret expedition of a force under Colonel Roth¬
ney against the Akhazm tribe on the Black Mountain on the 7th October i86g. Commanded the ist Sikh Infantry
during the operations in connection with the construction of military posts at Girnee and Kote Kirghee on the Dera
Ismael Khan frontier by a force under Major G. T. Kennedy (India Medal with two Clasps).
1** Colonel A. Wardrop served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1857, and was present at the bombard¬
ment and capture of Mohumra, and pursuit of the Persian army (Medal with Clasp).
"' Colonel T. Bell served as Adjutant with the 2ndBelooch Regiment with the Persian Expeditionary Force in
1836-37, including the assault and capture ofBeshireand surrender of Bushire, expedition to Borazjoon, and battle of
Khooshab (Medal with Clasp).
i!>o Colonel S. Fellows served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1837, and was present at the bombardment
and capture of the forts of Mohumra, and the pursuit of the Persian army (Medal with Clasp).

155 Lt.Colonel P. H. Le Geyt served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1856-37, and was present at the assault
and capture of Reshire, and surrender of Bushire, at Borazjoon, and the action of Khooshab (Medal with Clasp).
Served with Major Grimes' Field Force in the Mahee Kanta as Assistant Political Agent, and in command of detach¬
ment Gujerat Irregular Horse in 1838 ; with Captain Heycock's Field Force in the Mahee Kanta against the rebel
Takoor of Mondetti in 1838 ; commanded a detachment of Gujerat Irregular Horse, and was Staff Officer of a field
force in pursuit of Tantia Topeeand the Rao Sahib in 1838-59; with Colonel Evans' Field Force in command of a de¬
tachment of Gujerat Irregular Horse at Nuggur Parkur in 1859.
'57 Lt. Colonel C. D. J. Dodd was present at the attack on Fort Beyt in Okamundel in April 1838; was Civil Officer
on special duty with a field detachment in May 1859 during the outbreak in Nuggur Parkur, and from July to
December 1839 in command of details of Irregular antl Local Corps engaged in the suppression of the outbreak.
'58 Lt.Colonel J. S. D.Boltonservedwiththe Persian Expeditionary Force in 1857 n.s Quartermaster and Interpreter
to the Light Battalion, and was present at the bombardment and capture of the forts of Mohumra and pursuit of
the Persian army (Medal with Clasp). Served as Adjutant of the Sawant Wareo Locn! Corps from June 1857 until
March 1859, and was actively employed during a considerable part of that time in hunting down mutineers and
rebels; commanded the details sent to the Ghats west of Kolaporein December 1857 to check the would-be insurgents
in that quarter; secured the ringleaders, and disarmed the inhabitants before they could rise en masse (Medal).
'59 Lt.Colonel C. M. Ducat was i)resent at the siege and occupation of Dwarka in November 1839.
""• Lt.Colonel A. Utterson served with the Persian E.-^peditionary Force in 1S56-57, including the expedition to
Borazjoon and action at Khooshab (Medal with Clasp).
'^^ Lt.Colonel J. R,. Strutt served as Interpreter to a squadron of the 17th Lancers in the pursuit of Tantia Topee
in 1858 ; accompanied the 3rd Bombay N. I. to China in i860, and served until the end of the war in the Royal
Commissariat. Served in the Abyssinian campaign of 1868 (mentioned in despatches. Medal).
"^ Lt.Colonel T. Kettlewell served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1856-57, and was present at the land¬
ing at Hallilah Bay, storm and capture of Reshire, and surrender of Bushire (Medal with Clasp).
'"' Lt.Colonel C. Jameson was present at the relief of Mhow, siege and capture of the fort of Dhar in October 1857 ;
skirmish before Mundesore; battle, assault, and capture of Gooraria (severely wounded); served with a field force
under Brigadier Hill in the Taptee Valley while in pursuit of Tantia Topee and other rebels (Medal).
1^8 Lt.Colonel P. W. Bannerman served with the Kotah Contiugent against the insurgents in the Agra and Muttra
districts in May and June 1857; as a volunteer in the batteries in the Agra Fort in July and August 1857 ; ])resent
at the first attack on the fort of Awah on the 17th December 1857; at the assault and capture ofRowah, at the
siege and capture of Awah; commanded the Joudpore Sikh Horse at the action at Pertabgurh on the 24th
December 1858 (Medal).
"'^ Lt.Colonel W. A. Gillespie served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1856-37, and was present at the
.assault and capture of Reshiro, surrender of Bushire, with the expedition to Borazjoon, and at the action at Khoo¬
shab (Medal with Clasp).
"- Lt.Colonel W. H. Ross served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1S57, and was present at the bombard¬
ment and caj)turo of Mohumra (Medal with Clasp). Served with the 93rd Bombay N. I. in Khandeish in 1858; and
as Staff Oflicer with the Oojein Field Force in 1859-60.
'" Lt.Colonel A. T. Reid served as Adjutant of the loth Bombay N.I. at the siege and capture of Kotah, also with
the force under Brigadier Smith in Central India; the recapture of Chandaree, the action of Kota-ke-Serai, with
the Central India Field Force at the actions before and capture of Gwalior, the siege and capture of Po.vree, and
subsequent pursuit of the enemy resulting in the affair of Beejapoor; with Brigadier Smith's Brigade during the
campaign in Malwa, including the surprise at Koondrye (iledal with Clasp).
'"* Lt.Colonel Sexton served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 as Adjutant of the 25th Regiment from
June 1833, including the battles of Alma, Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of 26th October (Medal
with three Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal). Served also the Indian cainiiaign of 1838-59
as Adjutant of the 93th, including the siege and capture of Kotah (accompanied the 3rd assaulting (!olumn on 30th
March as Staff Officer to Colonel Raines commanding), battle of Kota ke Serai (acted as Staff Oiticer to Colonel
Raines commanding the Infantry, and mentioned in despatches), general action resulting in the Ciiptureof Gwalior
(severely burnt by the explosion of powder while serving a gnu captured from the enemy and tun icd on them, and
mentioned in despatches), siege and capture of Pourie, and surprise of the rebel camp at Koondrj-e (Medal
with Clasp).
''5 Lt.Colonel H. C. B. Tannerserved with the Persian Expedition of 1856-57, and was present at the assault and
capture of Reshire, and surrender of Bushiro, advance on Borazjoon, and action of Khoushab iMefl.il with Clasp;.
'"' Lt^ Colonel C. J. Anderson was present at the mutiny of the Bengal troops at Nusseerabad in May 1857; also at
the first attack on Awah in September 1857; at the siege and in the pursuit sub.iequeiit to the fall of Kotah in March
and April 1858; at the action of Kotah-ke-Serai on 17th June and capture of Gwalior on 19th June 1858; at the action
of Rauorte in December 1858 as Aide ds Camp to Sir Robert Napier commanding Gwalior Division.
'"* Lt.Colonel J. Galloway was present at the assault and capture of Kotah, with the column in pursuit of the Gwalior
rebels under Tantia Topco^ the Rao Salieb, and the Nawab of Banda in June July and August 1858 ; at the action
at Sanganecr on the 8th August, and the battle of the Bunass on the 14th of August 1858; accompanied Brigadier
Parkes pursuing Column from August 1858 to January 1859 (Medal with Clasp).
'*" Lt.Colonel G. C. Gran> servea in October 1859 with the Okamundel Field Force under Colonel Donovan in the
operations against the insurgent Wagheers ; present at the storm and capture of the town and fortress of Beyt on
the 6th October 1859 (dangerousl3- woimded).
'*' Lt.Colonel G. S. Stevens served in the 2othBombay N. I. with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1837. Com¬
manded a detached company of that Regiment against the insurgent Dessaies in the Sawunt \Varree districts in
1858, was Staff OflBcer to a field force sent againstTantia Topee m the Mahee Kanta at the close of the same year,
and subsequently with the 2nd Extra Battalion throughout the operations against rebel Bheels and Mekranies in
those dibti'ict? in 1859.
