' Major J. Ketchen served in the Indian Navy as a Midshipman in the steam-frigate Asaaye, with the Persian
Expedition in 1856-57, and was presentat the landing of the troops at Hallilah Bay, assault and capture of Reshire,
surrender of Bushire, bombardment and capture of the forts of Mohurnra (Medal with Clasp).
^ Major P. S. Leacock served with the 5th Bombay Native Infantry against the Taepings near Shanghai in
1862, and was presentat the attack and capture of the entrenched camp at Wangkaza 4th April, and of the town of
Tseerpoo 17th April; at Nazeau 27th and 29th April; at the storming of the town of Tsiugpoo 12th May; with
the garrison defending Kahding in May, and at the recapture of that place 24th October 1862. Served as Staff
Officer to the Arabian Field Force in the expedition against the Poudtheli Arabs in 1865-66 ; present at Bir Said
22nd December 1865, and all subsequent operations. Served in command of No. 4 Company Bombay Sappers and
Miners throughout the Abyssinian expedition of 1867-68, and was present at the action of Arogee and at the-
Btorming of Magdala (Medal).
' Lt.Colonel B. S.Walcott served with the 5th Bombay Native Light Infantry against the Taepings near Shanghai,,
