' General Patton served with the 74th throughout the Kaifir war of 1851-53 (Medal), and was present in all
the operations; commanded the Regiment in the Field from November 1851 until October 1832—mentioned in
dbspa,tches, and on the i6th March 1852 he received the marked approbation of Sir Harry Smith in General Orders
for his conduct in the operations in the Waterkloof, and was honourably mentioned in General Orders of the 15th
November foUorrinp' by Sir George Cathcart for services in the Field ; for these serNaces he was promoted to the
rank of ijt.Colonel. Served in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and was present (attached to the Staif) at the battle
of Balaklava and Inkerman, and was also present with the Head Quarter Stafl' as an amateur at the battle of the
Alma, the affairs of Bulganac and M'Kenzie's Farm, and capture of Balaklava (Medal with four Clasps, 5tl; Class of
the Meaiidie,and Turkish Medal). He was on Field Service witlia MadrasCnlumn during the Indian Mutiny in 1857.
^ General Dalrymple served in the Eastern campaign of 1854 up to 8th November, including the battles of
Alma (wounded) and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps. 5th Class of the Medjidie, and
Turkish Medal). Commanded the 2nd Battalion Scots Fusilier Guards on the expedition through New Brunswick
after the Trent affair in the winter of 1S61-62.
^ Colonel Lambtou landed In the Crimea In Sept. 1855, and served with the 71st Highlanders in the Trenches
at the siege of Sebastopol, and was present at its fall (Modal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the
Central India campaign in 1858-59, and was nresent at the taking of Fort Nahargah (mentioned in despatches.
Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Ma.ior).
^ Lt.Colonel Straghan served with the 74th Highlanders in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, and was
present at the storm and capture of Shorapore (Medal).
'MajorAllen served with the 79th Highlanders in the Crimea from the i6th August 1855, Including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol and assault of the 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in
the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the siege and capture of Lucknow, attack on the Fort of Rooyah,
actions of Allygunge, Barellly. and Shahjehanpore, capture of Forts Bnnnlar and Mahomdle, passage of the
Gogra at Fyzabad, capture of Rampore Kussia, and subsequent operations in Oude across the Gogra and Rapteo
rivers (Medal with Clasp).
"> Major Harvey was attached by the Government to the service of the British National Society for Aid to (ho
Sick and Wounded In the Franco-German war of 1870-71, and was awarded the Bavarian Order ol Merit, lie has
also been awarded the Silver Medal of the Royal Humane Society for saving t^vo lives from drownlugwhen on
duty as Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General disembarking the 4th Regiment from H.M.S. Tnmur at Queens-
town on the night of the 4th August 1874. Served in the operations against Sekukuni in 1878 as StHtf Ollicer for
the Transvaal. Served In the Zulu war of 1879 as Staff Officer of No. 5 Column, and afterwards as Brigade Major
1st Brigade, and Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General In the ist Division (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
'^ Major Wilson served with the 71st Highland Light Infantry throughout the campaign of 1S63 against the
Boneyrs and other hill tribes on the N. W. Frontier of India. Commanded the Sharpshooters from the 11 th Novem¬
ber to the 1st December, from which latter date till the end of the campaign he acted as Adjutant of the Regiment
(Medal with Clasp).
'^ Captain Ramsay served with the 67th Regiment in the Afghan war in 1878-79 (Medal).

' Lord William Paulet served the Eastern campaign of 1854 as Assistant Adjutant General to the Cavalry Division,
including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, CB.,
Officer of the Legion of Honor, Commander ist Class St. Maurice and St. Lazarus, 3rd Class of the Medjidie,
and Turkish Medal).

* Lt.Colonel Shaw served with the 60th Rifles in the imban campaign in 1858, and acted as Field Adjutant of
Colonel Walter's Column em tiloyedag.ainst the rebels In Shahabad (mentioned In despatches, Medal). Also through¬
out the campaign of i860 in China (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasps).
5 Major Covey served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 as Adjutant of the 6Sth Light Infantry and as Field
Adjutant of Tauranga Field Force, and was present at the attack on Gate Pah (mentioned in despatches) and
engagement at Te Ranga (mentioned in despatches. Medal).
' Major Crawford served with the 2nd Queen's Royals throughout the campaign of i860 in North China,
including the actions of Sinho, taking of Tangku, actions of the i8th and 21st September, and surrender of Pekiu
(Medal with two Clasps).
8 Major Woodward served with the 68th Light Infantry in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 (Medal).
" Major Peyton served with the loth Regiment in the Expedition into the Native State of Suughie Ujong,
Malay Peninsula, In 1874, and was present at the attack and capture of the Kapnyan Stockades. Also served
during the Perak Expedition of 1875-76 during the operations in the Native States of Sunghie Ujong, Sri Mananti,
a,nd Terrachee, and was present at the action of Paroa (mentioned in despatches for gallant conduct, ami promoted
in recognition of his services from Lieutenant loth Regt. to Captain 106th Regt., Medal with Clasp).
'* Captain Btrwlck served with the 42nd Highlanders In the second phase of the Ashanti war in 1874, and was
severely wounded at the battle of Amoat'ul (Medal with Clasp).
'° Quarter Master Council served with the 83rd Regiment in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58 in Central
India, and was present at the engagement at Awah, the siege and capture of Kotah, and the actions of Sangauoer
and Bunao (Medal with Clasp).
''' Qu,arter Master Shea served throughout the New Zealand campaign of 1864-66, and was present at the attack
