• Sir Charles Trollops commanded the Troops in the Island of Cephalonia in 1848, 49, and 50. In August
1848 the towns of Argostoli and Lixuri were attacked by armed banditti, who were repulsed by the troops with
loss on both sides. In 1849 the island was disturbed by armed insurgents—martial law was proclaimed, which re¬
mained in force for six weeks, and was carried into effect by him ; received the thanks of the Queen, and of the
Legislature of the Ionian Islands, and was voted a sword by the inhabitants of Cephalonia. Served the Eastern
campaign from loth Nov. 1S54—from the 12th Nov. until July 1855 as Colonel on the Staff, he commanded the ist
Brigade 2nd Division; on 31st July he was Gazetted Brigadier General, and commanded 2nd Brigade 3rd Divi¬
sion from that date until the Army was broken up. Commanded in the Trenches as General of the Day, right
attack, on throe separate occasions when sorties were made upon them and repulsed, and was present on all other
occasions when the 2nd Division was employed, including the 8th and i8th June—on the former in command of
the Old Guard, and on the latter in command of five Regiments ; on the 8th Sept. he was in command of 2nd
Brigade in reserve with the 3rd Division (Medal with Clasps, CiJ.,Officer of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian and
Turkish Medals, and 3rd Class of the Medjidie).
'' Sir Heni'y Percival de Bathe served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimean campaign from 17th Nov.
1854, and was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Mi-dal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Mediidie, and Turkish
Medal).
' Colonel Fendall served with the S3rd Regiment against the hill tribes on the Peshawur Frontier in 1851-52
(Medal with Clasp). Also the Indian campaign of 1857-59, including the actions of Chutra, Gopalgunge, Kho¬
dagunge, and entry into Futtehpore, and affair of Shumshabad; served as Brigade Major at the assault and
capture of Meangunge, and also at the siege and capture of Lucknow, after which lie officiated as D.A.
Quarter Master General at Lucknow until the close of the rebellion in Oude (mentioned in despatches. Brevet
of Major, Medal with Clasp).
' Lt. Colonel Truell served with the 53rd Regiment in the Indian campaign of 1857-59, including the action of
Khujwah, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawupore on 6th Dec. and pursuit of the Gwalior Contingent
to Serai Ghat, action of Khodagunge and entry into Futtelighur, affair of Shnmshabad, storm and capture of
Meangunge, siege and captm-e of Lucknow, affair of Koors e, passage of the Goomtee and occupation of Sultan-
pore, passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad on 25th Nov., action of Toolsepore, and minor affairs; appointed Staff
Officer to M Column on the Nepaul Frontier (mentioned in desp.Mtches, Medal with two Clasps).
' Major Prhice served with the 53rd Regiment in the Indian campaign of 1857-59, including the action of Khuj-
wah, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore on 6tli,Dec., and pursuit of the Gvvalior Contingent
to Serai Ghat, action of Khodagunge and entry into Futteh^'liur, affair of Shumsliabad, storm and capture of
Meeanguuge, siege and capture of Luckuow, affair of Koorsie, passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad on 25th Nov.,
action of Toolsepore, minor affairs, attack and destruction of the Port of Bungeon (Medal with two Claspsj.
8 Major Smith served with the 98th Regiment in the PesUawur Expeditionary Force on the Euzofzie Frontier
under Sir Sidney Cotton in April and May 1858, and at the affair with the Hindostanee fanatics on the Heights
ol Sittana on the 4th May (Medal with Clasp).
'"Captain VVhiie served in the latter part of the Zulu war of 1879 in tic Commissariat and Transport service
(Medal with Chisp).
