' Colonel Marter served with the ist Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879 from the 9th April, and commanded
a detached squadron of his regiment in the field from the ist June until the conchision of the campaign, including
the cavalry aBair at Erzungayan on 5th June. Captured the Zulu King in the Ngome Forest, and brought him to
Ulundi, having under his command at the time a squadron of the King's Dragoon Guards, a company of the Natal
Native Coniingent, and an otHcer and ten men of irregular mounted troops (mentioned in despatches, and pro¬
moted Bt.Lt.Colonel'' in recognition of the service performed by him in having effected the capture of Ketchwayo,
the Zulu King, in the Ngome Forest," Medal with Clasp).
' Major Benthall, Captains Becher B,nd Willan, Lieuts. Dewar, Lowr.y, Goold-Adams, Harkness, and Wright
served with the King's Dragoon Guards In the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with Clasp),
* Lieut. Alexander served with the King's Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879 in the squadron under Major
Marter, from ist June to the end of the war, including the cavalry affair at Erzungayau and the capture of King
Cetywayo (Medal with ('lasp).

« Major Brownlow served with the King's Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879, and was Orderly Officer to
Colonel Drury Lowe, commanding the cavalry in the engagement at Ulundi (mentioned in Colonel Driiry Lowe's
report). Afterwards commanded a squadron of his Regiment in Baker Russell's Flying Column (Brevet of
Major, Medal with Clasp).
'" Lieut. .Marrow served with the King's Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879 in the squadron under Major
Marter, including the cavalry affair at Erzungayan. Acted as Adjutant and Quarter Master to the stiuadron, and
subsequently as Staff'Officer at Fort Newdigate (Medal with Clasp).
12 Lieut. Dewar served wiih the King's Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879. Served afterwards with the
Mounted Infantry (94th Regt.) throughout the operations against Sekukuni, and was present at the attack and
capture of the stronghold, 28 November 1879—severely wounded (Medal with Clasp).
13 Lieut. Willett served in the Zulu war of 1879 with the Field Forcein Natal and the Transvaal (Medal with Clasp).
