1 Lt.Colonel B. F. Alexander served with the Rifle Brigade in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including th<
battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec. 1857, capture of Lucknow, battle of Nawabgunge, and taking of Fort Oomerea.
commanded the storming party at attack on Fort Birwah — wounded (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Majoi
Medal with Clasp).
2 Lt. Colonel Alleyne served with the 79th Highlanders in the Crimea from thei6th August until December 1855, in
eluding the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assault of the Redan on the 8th September (Medal with Clasp, anc
Turkish Medal). Served also with the 79th in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the affair of Secundrs
near Allahabad, siege and capture of Lucknow, attack on the Fort ofRooyah, actions of Allygunge, Bareilly, anc
Stahjehanpoce, capture of forts Bunnai and Mahomdee, passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad, and a'cted as Adjutan'
at the capture of Rampore Kussiah and during the subsequent operations in Oude across the Gogra and Raptee
rivers (Medal with Clasp).
* Lord Annesley served with the 43rd Light Infantry in the Kaffir war of 1851-52-53 (Medal), and was severely \
wounded in right arm at the battle of Berea. Served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Eastern campaign!!
of 1854, including the battle of Alma — severely wounded (Medal with Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
5 Lt.Colonel A. B. Armstrong served at the capture of Genoa In 1814, and subsequently in the American war, in-
cluding the capture of Washington, attack before Baltimore 13th Sept. 1814, and on Orleans 8th Jan. 1815, where
he was wounded and taken prisoner. Present when Graham's Town was attacked by ten thousand Kaffirs 22nd
April 1819, and who were repulsed with great slaughter by three hundred Nen under the command of Colonel
Wiltshire. Commanded in the Kat River Settlement during the Kaffir war of 1834-35, and was thanked in General
Orders for his defence of that locality against an attack of Kaffirs on the 19th Feb. 1835 Served also throughout the
whole of the Kaffir war of 1846-47, and was present at the attack on the Amatola, 10th April 1846, and two subsequent
days' engagement (Medal).
6 Lt.Colonel R. Armstrong served with the 40th Regiment in the New Zealand war of 1860-61, and was present
at Puketakaurie, Mahoetai, Matarikoriko, and repulse of attack on No. 3 Redoubt. Also served in the war of 1863-
65, and was present at Orakau (Medal).

14 Lt.Colonel W. A. Battine served as Adjutant of the 16th Bengal Irregular Cavalry on the Peshawur frontier and
was present in several expeditions against Momunds and Affredie hill tribes in 1854-56 (Medal with Clasp),
Served with the Persian Expeditionary Force from Jan. to June 1857, and was present at the bombardment and cap'
ture of Mohumrah (Medal with Clasp). Served in Bengal with Havelock's column, on the Staff of that General
and was present in the actions of Onao, Busseerutgunge (island 2nd), Boorbeakechowkee, and Bithoor, and in
the several actions leading to and ending in the relief of the Residency of Lucknow on 25th Sept. 1857 ; also
during the subsequent defence as D. A.Q.M. General to the force until the final relief by Lord Clyde on 24th Nov,
1857 (Medal with Clasp, and a year's service).
15 Lt.Colonel Bazalgette landed in India with the 37th Regt. in June 1857, and served there until the suppression
of the mutiny, being engaged with the enemy on several occasions (Medal).
20 Lt.Colonel the Hon. G. A. V. Bertie served with the 24th Regiment in the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with Clasp).
21 Lt.Colonel Bertram served with the 41st Regt. in the Crimean campaign from the 6th Feb. to the 7th Sept. 1855,
including the siege of Sebastopol (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
23 Lt.Colonel G. M. Billington served with the 4th Regt. in the Crimea subsequent to the fall of Sebastopol
from the 18th March 1856. Also with it during the Indian campaign of 1857-58, and was severely wounded in
the attack on the Fort on Be3't Island on the 2nd of April 1858 (Medal).
26 Lt Colonel Blennerhassett served with the 71st Light Infantry in the Canadian rebellion. Also in the Crimean
campaign from 20th Dec. 1854 to 13th Feb. 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish
Medal). Served in the Indian campaign under Sir John Michel, and was present at the actions of Raijghur (in
command of the Left Wing 71st), Mungrowlee, Sindwaho, and Kurai (Medal with Clasp, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, and
mentioned in despatches) .
2 ? Lord Blythswood served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimea from the 22nd May to the end of
Aug. 1855 ; was present at the siege of Sebastopol, and wounded in the Trenches by a shell on the 22nd Aug. 1885,
(Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
29 Lt.Colonel Edward Bond served with the 53rd Regt. in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, and was present at the
affair of Buddiwal, and actions of Aliwal and Sobraon (Medal and Clasp).
30 Lt.Colonel Henry Bond served in the 17th Light Dragoons at the taking of Anjar in Cutch in 1816; also through-
out the Mahratta campaign of 1817-18. He was present with the nth Light Dragoons at the siege and capture of
Bhurtpore in 1825-26 (Medal). Accompanied the 3rd Light Dragoons into Affghanistan with the force under Sir
George Pollock, and was present at the forcing of the Khyber Pass, and in every engagement in the advance of the
Army on Cabool ; also commanded the Rear Guard on three different occasions, — engaged the enemy at Tezeen and
Jugdulluck, and safely covered and protected the whole of the baggage of the Army, notwithstanding the repeated
attacks of the enemy (Medal).
33 Lt.Colonel J. G. Hay-Boyd served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava,
and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, affair of 18th June, and capture of Kinbourn (Medal with four Clasps,
Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
31 Lt.Colonel Hon. W. G. Boyle served the Eastern campaign of 1854 as Aide de Camp to Sir De Lacy Evans, in-
cluding the battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Brevet of Major, Medal with three Clasps, 5th
Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
35 Lt.Colonel Bramston served with the Rifle Brigade in the Kaffir war of 1852-53 (Medal). Also the Eastern cam
paign of 1854, and up to 6th Aug. 1855, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, and siege of Sebas
topol (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
36 Lt.Colonel A. Bravo was employed at Cape Coast Castle in 1873-74 (Ashanti Medal).
37 Lt.Colonel J. D. Brockman entered the Royal Navy in 1847 ; was actively employed during the Kaffir war of
1851-52 (Medal). Served in H.M.S. Hermes at the first attack on the stockades in the Rangoon river, was present
at the attack and taking of Martaban and afterwards at the storm and capture of Rangoon nth April 1852 (Medal
with Clasp for Pegu). Afterwards was in several actions with pirates on the coast of China. Operations against
rebel tribes in Guzerat in 1857. Served with the 86th Regiment in the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh
Rose from Feb. 1858 to Jan. 1859, including the capture of the strong Hill Fort of Chandaree; siege, storm, and
capture of Jhansi, action of Koonch, operations before Calpee, battle of Gowlowlee, capture of Calpee, battle of
Morar, and capture of Gwalior; captured a battery of 3 guns on the Heights before Gwalior and turned them on
the enemy ; commanded a Detachment of 100 men forming part of a Flying Column sent in pursuit of Feroze Shah
and Tantia Topee (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).
40 Lt.Colonel C. B. Brown served with the 63rd Regiment at the assault of the Redan and fall of Sebastopol,
also at the bombardment and surrender of Kinbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
11 Lt.Colonel E. J. V. Brown served with the 88th Regt. the Eastern campaign up to 7th Dec. 1854, including the
battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Major, Sardinian and
Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
" Lt.Colonel C. W. Bruce served with the Carabineers from the outbreak at Meerut to the pacification of Oude
and commanded a Squadron at the action of Bunkagaon on 8th Oct. 1858, also in the subsequent campaign, including
the actions of Mahoudispore and Russoolpore, advance on and capture of Mitowlee, affairs of Allygunge and Bis war,
and pursuit of the rebels for three months through Rajpootana and Central India (Medal).
13 Sir John Burgoyne served with the Grenadier Guards in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and was severely
wounded at the battle of Alma (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal) .
46 Lt.Colonel Burnley-Campbell served with the Carabiniers in the Afghan war of 1879-80, and was present at
the affair at Dakka on the 15th January 1880. Took part with the expedition against the Wuzeeree Khugianis.
Accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march from Cabul to Candahar as Orderly Officer to Brigadier General
H. H. Gough, and was present in the reconnaissance on the 31st August (horse shot), and in the battle of Candahar
(mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp, and Bronze Decoration).
