pedition in 1884-85 as Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master General at Alexandria.
576 Major A M'D. Moore served in the Soudan Expedition in r384 with the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers,
and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai, the relief of Tokar, and the affair at Tamanieb (Medal with
Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served with the Expedition to the West Coast of Africa in 1892, and was in command
at the attack on Tambi on the r4th March — wounded ; was also present at the capture of Tambi on the 7th April
(Medal with Clasp). Served in the Protectorate Expedition in Sierra Leone in 1898-99 in command of the Panguma
Column — clightly wounded (Clasp). Served in the South African war in 1899— 1901 ; commanded the 2nd Battalion
Royal Irish Fusiliers from 28th May to 30th June 1900, and from 15th Sept 1900 to nth Jan. 1901 ; took part
in the operations in Natal, 1899 ; in the relief of Ladysmith, including the action at Colenso ; operations on Tugela
Heights, 14th to 27th Feb. 1900, and the action at Pieter's Hill ; operations in the Transvaal. May and June 1900 ;
in Natal, March and April 1900 ; in the Transvaal, east of Pretoria, July to 29th Nov. 1900, including the action at

Commandant at Schoeman's Kloof (mentioned in despatches).
581 Major H. C. C. Gibbings served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 attached to the 3rd Battalion of the Grenadier
Guards ; was Divisional Paymaster to the whole of the Force, and was present in the engagement at Hasheen, at
the attack on the convoys on the 24th and 26th March, and at the destruction of Temai (Medal with Clasp, and Khe-
dive's Star). Also served with the Egyptian Frontier Field Force in 1885-86.
