Facings White. — Agents, Messrs. Cox and Co
1 Major General Solly Flood served with the 53rd Regiment in a force under Sir Colin Campbell in 1851-52 against
the hill tribes on the N.W.Frontier of India. Served also in the Indian campaign of 1857-59; was with the
Alumbagh Force during the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde ; -with the 53rd at the relief of Cawnpore on 29th
Nov. 1857, action there on the 6th December, and pursuit of the Gwalior Contingent to Serai Ghat, action of Kali*
Nuddec and occupation of Futtehghnr, affair of Shumshabad, storm and capture of Meangunge, siege of Lucknow
as Aide do Camp to General Mansfield (severely wounded), with the 53rd during the hot weather campaign in
Oude in 1858, including the passage of the Goomtee and occupation of Sultanpore; as Aide do Camp to Sir William
Mansfield during the winter campaign of 1858-59, including that in the Baiswara country and action at Dhoondea
Khaira, and the Trans-Gogra campaign with its several minor affairs and the final action on the Raptee (mentioned
in despatches, Medal with two Clasps, and Brevet of Major).
'■> Lt.Colonel Adam served in the South African war with the 1st Battalion South Lancashire Regiment in 1899-
"900, 1902, and took part in the relief of Ladysmith (twice mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel).
6 Colonel Shekleton served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1S96 in
command of the 2nd Soudanese Battalion, including the engagement at Firkct and the operations at Hafir (men-
tioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Khedive's Medal with two Clasps); in the operations in 1897 (Clasp to
Khedive's Medal); and in 1898, including the battles of the Atbara (mentioned in despatches) and Khartoum (men-
tioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, two Clasps to Khedive's Medal). Served in
the South African war in 1899-1900, 1902, on the Staff, and as Commandant of Volunteers, Eastern District; also
employed with the Transport (mentioned in despatchef ).
' J Major Prendergast served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1896
with the 10th Soudanese Battalion, including the engagement at Firket and the operations at Hafir (mentioned
in despatches, Khedive's Medal with two Clasps) ; also served in the South African war in 1901 with the Johannes-
burg Mounted Rifles.
u Major Menzies served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart
in 1897-98 attached to the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was present at tho storming of the Dargai
Heights, the capture of tho Sampagha and Arhanga Passes and in the operations in the Khanki Mastura, Waran
ijiid Bazar Valleys (Medal with two Clasps). Served with the China Expeditionary Force in 1900 (Medal with Clasp).
10 Major S. Upperton served in tho South African war with the 1st Battalion South Lancashire Regiment in 1899-
1900, 1902, and took part in the relief of Ladysmith ; the operations of the 17th to 24th January, 1900, including
the action at Spion Kop ; the 5th to 7th February, and the action at Vaal Krantz ; and on Tugela Heights, 14th to
27th February— severely wounded 23rd February 1900, loss of eye (three times mentioned in despatches, Brevet of
Major).
17 Major Bandock served during the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart
in 1897 at the Base Depot at Kohat (Medal with two Clasps)
