,s Major Gilbert served in the Hazara campaign in 18S8 with the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment (Medal
with Clasp) . Served in the the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in 1897-
98 with the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment with the Tirah Expeditionary Force, including the operations in
the Bazar Valley (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the South African war in 1899-1902 and took part in the
operations in the Orange Free State, Feb. to May 1900, including the actions at Houtnek, Vet River and Zand
River ; in the Transvaal in May and June 1900, including the actions tear Johannesburg, Pretoria and Diamond
Hill ; and in the Orange River Colony May to 29th Nov. 1900, including the actions at Wittebergen and Lady-
brand (twice mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, DSO., Medal with four Clasps).
19 Major Montresor served with the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served
in the Hazara campaign in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment (Medal with Clasp).

and took part in the march from Bloemfontein to Pretoria, including the engagements at Welkom Farm, Zand
River, and Doornkop, the occupation of Johannesburg and Pretoria, and the engagement at Diamond Hill (horse
shot) ; was present in the subsequent advance into the Orange River Colony, including the operations round
Bethlehem and in the Caledon Valley, the engagement at Retief's Nek, and the surrender of the Boer forces at
Golden Gate on 1st Aug. 1900; also took part in the operations round Thabanchu, including the relief of Ladybrand,
and in the Winburg and Lindley districts.
28 Captain Osbom served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
1S97-9S with the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment with the Tirah Expeditionary Force including the opera-
tions in the Bazar Valley (Medal with two Clasps).
29 Captain Glasgow served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895 as Assistant Commissariat
0fficer2nd Brigade (Medal with Clasp). Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir
William Lockhart in 1897-98 as Adjutant to the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment with the Tirah Expedi-

3G Captain Bellamy served in the South African war in 1899-1900 with the 1st Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment as
Acting Provost Marshal to the 21st Brigade, and took part in the march from Bloemfontein to Pretoria, including
the engagements at Welkom Farm, Zand River, and Doornkop, the occupation of Johannesburg and Pretoria, and
the engagement at Diamond Hill ; was present in the subsequent advance into the Orange River Colony, including
the operations round Bethlehem and in the Caledon Valley, the engagements near Naaupoort Nek in July 1900, and
the surrender of the Boer forces at Golden Gate on 1st Aug. 1900 ; also took part in the operations round Thabanchu,
Winburg, and Lindley (DSO.).
