25 Major R. Wanless-O'Gowan served in the South African war in 1S99-1901 ; took part in the relief of Lady-
smith, including action at Colenso ; the operations of 17th to 24th Jan. 1900, and action at Spion Kop — severely
wounded ; in the Transvaal, October 1900 to July 1901 ; and in Cape Colony, July 10 August 1901 ; afterwards served
on the Staff (twice mentioned in despatches, Bt. of Major, Medal with five Clasps).
26 Captain Maclear served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895 with the ist Battalion
East Lancashire Regiment (Medal -with Clasp).

31 Captain Cooper served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895 with the ist Battalion East
Lancashire Regiment (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Bakedi Expeditionary Force in 1900, and in the Mandi
Field Force, under Colonel Evalt, with the Uganda Rifles (Medal with Clasp).' Ssrved in the South African war
in 1901 with the Remount Department (Modal).
32 Captain Collins served in the South African war in 1900-02 with the Mounted Infantry; took part in Lord
Roberts' advance from Orange River, and was present at the engagements at Karree Siding, Brandfort, Vet and
Zand Rivers, and occupation of Johannesburg and Pretoria; took part in tbe subsequent onerations in the Western
Transvaal, including toe capture of Delarey's guns and convoy at Vaalbank; also operations in Orange River
Colony, the Eastern Transvaal, and in the final operations in the Western Transvaal under General Ian Hamiltou
(twice mentioned in despatches, DSO., Medal with three Clasps).
33 Captain Green served in the South African war in 1899-1900 with the 2nd Battalion King's Royal Rifles, and
took part in the defence of Ladysmith, including the action at Wagon Hill; was present at the action at Riet-
fontein and in the subsequent operations in Northern Natal and the Transvaal, including the engagement at
Laing's Nek. Served witn the ist Battalion East Lancashire Regiment in 1900 02, and took pa t in the operations
in the Transvaal and Orange River Colony with a Mobile Column (Medal with three Clasps).
36 Captain Rutter served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary b'orce with the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, including the expedition
to the Bjzar Valley (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the South African war in 1899-1902 with the 2nd Battalion
King's Royal Rifles, and took part in the defence of Ladysmith ; present at the engagements of Rietfootein ami
