with the 38th Regiment in the Indian Mutiny campaign from Nov. 1857, including the capture of Meeangunge,
siege and capture of Lucknow, affairs of Barree and Nuggur (Medal with Clasp).

with the Nile Expedition in 1884-85, and had charge of the Debbeh Field Hospital (Clasp).
429 Captain P. J. R. Nunnerley served with the Burmese Expedition in 1886-87 (Medal with Clasp).

432 Assistant Surgeon H. T. Sylvester served with the 23rd Fusiliers at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and at
the assault of the Redan on the 8th Sept. 1855, on which occasion he was mentioned in Sir James Simpson's
despatch " for his courage in going to the front under heavy fire to assist the wounded" (Medal with Clasp..
Victoria Cross, and Knight of the Legion of Honor) : was awarded the VC " for going out on the 8th September
1855, under a heavy fire, in front of the fifth parallel, right attack, to a spot near the Redan (Sebastopol), where
Lieutenant and Adjutant Dyneley was lying mortally wounded, and for dressing his wounds in that dangerous
and exposed situation. This Officer was mentioned in General Sir James Simpson's despatch of the 18th September
'855, for his courage in going to the front, under a heavy fire, to assist the wounded." Served in the Indian,
campaign of 1857-58, including the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnpore,
siege and capture of Lucknow (Medal with two Clasps) .
433 Quarter Master Blackman served in the Zulu war in 1879 (Medal with Clasp).
434 Captain T. Connor served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star) ; also served with the
