596 Major GeneralW. C. O'Shaughnessy served with the 1 2th Regiment throughout the New Zealand war of 1863-66,
and was present during the remainder of the Waikato campaign under Sir Duncan Cameron, also at the operations
before and assault of the Gate Pah (Medal).
598 Major General C. H. Owen served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Inkerman, siege
and fall 01 Sebastopol, in the Trenches with the siege train, and bombardments of 17th October, 9th April, and 6th,
17th June, and 8th September (mentioned in despatches, Bivvet of Major, Medal with two Clasps, Knight of the
Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
600 Major General 0. F. Parkinson served with the 95th Regiment in the Crimea from 30th Ma v 1855, including the-
siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack of the Quarries on 6th June, attack of the 18th June, and assault of the Redan,
on 8th September (wounded, Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the Central India caaipaignv
in 1858-59, including the siege and capture of Kotah, pursuit of Tantia Topee, and action, at Barode (mentioned in
despatch, Medal with Clasp I.
603 Major General B. Parrott served the campaign of 1842 in Afghanistan under General Pollock (Medal).
606 Major General W. Paske served with the 28th Bengal Native Infantry in the force employed against Ram
Sing in the Punjaub operations of 1849-50. Served in the Euzofzaie expedition under Sir Colin Campbell in 1S52
(Medal). Served in the Indian Mutiny campaign, and received the thanks of the Government of India for his-
services (Medal).
610 Major General W. Paterson served with the 80th Regiment in the Burmese war of 1852-53, including th; bon>-
bardmentand capture of Prome, repulse of the subsequent night attack, reconnaissance at Ithaymew, advance om

617 Major General J. Perkins served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the attack on the Heights of
Moorpooria (Medal). Served with the Force under Sir Charles Napier that forced the Kohat Pass in Feb. 1850 ;
and with that under Sir Colin Campbell in 1S51-52 and present at the capture and destruction of Dubb (Medal with.
Clasp). Served also in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1857, and was wounded at the actioa of Timmoor Ghaut
(mentioned in despatches, Medal).
618 Sir Joseph Pnilips served in the Zulu war in command of the Royal Marines in 1879, and was present in the
engagement at Gingindhlovu and at the relief of Ekowe (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with
Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war ot 1882, and was present at the bombardment of the Alexandria Forts and in
the engagement at Maluha junction in command of Royal Marines (mentioned in despatches, Brevet ofLt. Colonel,
Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmauieh, and Khedive's Star) .
619 Major General H. P. Phillipps served as Adjutant to the i st Battalion 2nd Queen's throughout the cam-
paign of i860 m North China (Medal with two Clasps for Taku Forts and Pekin).

6*3 Major General J. S. Rawlins served throughout the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, and was present at the battle
of Ferozeshah (Medal), and the operations before the Fort of Khote Kangra. Served as Quarter Master 4th Sikh.
Infantry in the Burmese war in 1852-53, and was present at the recapture of Pegu and many other subsequent
sperations in its vicinity, also in many minor engagements from Feb. to March 1853 ; witu the expedition under Sir
John Cheape against the rebel chiei Myatoon, and commanded a Detachment of Sikhs at the capture of his strong-
hold at Donahue — severely wounded, and thanked in regimental orders for his " conspicuous gallantry in the field"
(Medal with Clasp for Pega) . Was selected by the Lieut.Governor N. VV. Provinces in June 1857 to raise and organize
a Militia Corps of European and Eurasian residents of Agra, and commanded the Militia when the station was
attacked by the Neemuch mutineers at Agra on the 3rd July ; also present at the engagement with the Mhow and
Indore mutineers on the 10th Oct. 1857 — mentioned in despatches, and thanked by the Government N.W. Provinces
(Medal). Served in Bhootan and commanded the 1st Goorkhas from Dec. 1866 to Feb. 1867 (Medal with Clasp) »
Proceeded in command of the 1st Goorkhas from Dhurmsala by forced marches in Aug. 1868 to join the Hazara
Field Force and covered a distance oi 430 miles in. 24 days, and served throughout the campaign in Hazara and
the Black Mountain ; mentioned in despatches and thanked by the Viceroy, the Commander in Chief, the Governor
of the Punjaub, and Sir A. Wilde, Commanding the Expedition (Clasp).
644 Major General Joseph Reay served during the Sonthal campaign of 1855.
645 Major General A. T. Reid served as Adjutant of the 10th Bombay N.l. at the siege and capture of Kotah,
also with the force under Brigadier Smith in Central India; the recapture of Chandaree, the action of Kota-ke-
Serai, with the Central India Field Force at the actions before and capture of Gwalior, the siege and capture of
Powree, and campaign in Malwa, including the surprise at Koondrye (Medal with Clasp).

siege operations before Mooltan, including the storming of the Heights on the 27th and 28th Dec. 1848, afterwards

647 Major General James Reid served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Served in the Indian Mutiny
campaigns of 1857-58, including the assault and capture of Cnandeepore Fort, siege and capture of Lucknow,

651 Major General H. C. P. Rice served as Assistant Commissiariat Officer with the Sikkim Field Force in 1861^
Served with the Jowaki Afreedee Expedition in 1877-7S — dangerously wounded (mentioned in despatches, Brevet
of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp). Served in the Afghan war in 1879, and took part in the Zaimusht Expedition
(Medal), and in the Mahsood Wuzeeree Expedition in 188 1.
