1 Lieut.General Traill-Burroughs served with the 93rd Highlanders throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-5";
including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, expedition to Kertch and Yenikale, siege and fallof Sebastopol, and
assaults of the 18th June and 8th September (Medal with three Clasps, Turkish Medal, and 5th Class of the
Medjidie). Served also in the Indian campaign in 1857-58, including the relief of Lu?know by Lord Clyde, the
storming of the Secundrabagh and of the Shahnujeev (was the first through the breach at the Secundrabagh and
was slightly wounded on the head by a tulwar cut), battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec. and pursuit to Seraighat, action
of Khodagunge, storming of the Beeguoi Khotee and capture of Lucknow— severely wounded (Brevet of Major,
Medal with two Clasps). Served with the Euzofzai Field Force in the campaign against the Boneyrs and other
mountain tribes on the ST. W. Frontier of [ndia in Dec. 1863, and commanded the Regiment whilst encamped in
the TJmbeyla Pass (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
2 Lt. Colonel Forbes served m the Afghan war m 1879-80, and was present in the engagements at Ahmed KheyJ
as Orderly Officer to Brigadier General Palliser (mentioned in despatches) and Padkao Shana (mentioned in des-
patches, Medal with Clasp). Served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1898 in com-
mand of the 1st Battalion Warwickshire Regiment, and was present at the battles of the Atbara and Khartoum
(mentioned in despatches, CB. British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with two Clasps).
3 Lt.Colonel M. Quayle Jones served with the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 1S84-85
as Major in the 4th Pioneer Regiment. Served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in
1898 with the 1st Battalion Warwickshire Reziment, and was present at the battle of Atbara (mentioned in des-
patches, CB. British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with Clasp).
4 Major Irwin served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1898 with the 1st Battalion.
Warwickshire Reciment, and was present at the battle of Khartoum (British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with
Clasp) .
5 Major Cockburn served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment,
and took part in the operations of the Desert Column under Sir Herbert Stewart (Medal wiih Clasp , and Khedive's
Star). Served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1898 with the 1st Battalion War-
wickshire Regiment, and was present at the battles of the Atbara and Khartoum (British Medal, and Khedive's
Medal with two Clasps).
6 Major Landon served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1898 with the 1st Battalion
Warwickshire Regiment, and was present at the battles of the Atbara (mentioned in despatches) and Khartoum
(British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with two Clasps).
'Major Mockler served with the Burmese Expeditionin 1E85-E6 as Transport Officer (mentioned in despatches,
Medal with Clasp).
8 Major Chambers served with the Chin-Lushai Expeditionary Force in 1889-90 as Assistant Intelligence
Officer (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). Served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert
Kitchener in 1898 with the 1st Battalion Warwickshire Regiment (British Medal, and Khedive's Medal).
9 Colonel Ternan served with the 63rd Regiment in Southern Afghanistan in 1880 (Medal). Served with the
1st Battalion of the Manchester Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star) ; with the
Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the Egyptian Army (Clasp) ; with the Soudan Frontier Field Force in 1885-89
including the engagement at Giniss;"with the Nile Frontier Force in i388 as Assistant Adjutant General of the
force; and in the operations on the Soudan frontier in 18S9 including the engagement at Toski as Brigade
Major of Infantry (mentioned in despatches, DSO., and Clasp). Proceeded to Uganda on special service in 1894
and served with the TJnyoro Expedition in 1895, including the engagement at Mruli (Medal). Commanded the
expedition against King Kabrega. in 1896 and at the occupation of (Jnyoro, including the engagement at Favira.
Commanded the expedition against the Kamassia Tribe in 1897, and also the expedition against King Mwanga-
in 1897, including the engagements at Kabawoko (wounded) and Marongo.
