289 Major General J. G. R. Forlong served in the Burmese campaign in 1852-53 ; was employed as an Assistant
Field Engineer and in charge of guides and a survey with a large armed force to escort elephants from Arracan tew
Pegu in 1853, and present at the attack and investment of Prome, capture of Toma, and sund^ skirmishes there,
and in pursuit of the Burman Governor of Padore (Medal with Clasp for Pegu).
290 Major General T. F. Forster served as a volunteer in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, and was present at the battle-
of Aliwal (Medal).
291 Major General A. G. Forsyth served in the Puniaub campaign of 1848-49, including the action of Sadoola-

307 Major General D. Gaj-e served in Scinde in 1843 in command of two guns with the Detachment which, in
the night attack on the British Camp near Shahdadpore, defeated and dispersed the Forces of Meer Shah Mahomed,,
taking all his cannon.

316 Major General C. J. Godby served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 including the attair of Buddiwal, action,
of Aliwal, surrender of Fort Phillour, and subsequent operations in the Jullunilur Doab (Medal). Also throughout
the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Chenab, aud actions of Ramnuggur, Sadoolapore,
and Chillianwallah— dangerously wounded in a hand-to-hand fisht in detence of the Regimental Colours (Medal
with Clasp). Was wounded by an assassin in Dec. 1853 when in charge of the Eusoffzie frontier. Has been employed,
in hunting down and engaged with hill robbers on the Peshawur frontier. Served as Brigadier General in command,
of the 1st Brigade of Sir Donald Stewart's Division in the Afghan war of 1878-80, including the surrender of Can-
dahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie, and the occupation of Candahar till March 1880; was present m the advance to Ghuznee-
and Cabul, and in the engagements at Ahmed Kheyl and Urzoo, and in t!ie subsequent operations in the Logar
Valley and about Cabul till August 1880, when he was compelled by sickness to resign his command (mentioned.
