Served with the expedition to Ashanti in 1895 as Aide de Camp to Major General Sir Francis Scott, Commanding
the Expeditionary Force (Brevet of Major, Star). Served with the Soudan Expedition under Sir Herbert
Kitchener m 1898 as Staff Officer to the troops on board the Gunboats Flotilla, tool: part in the bombardment of
the Forts ot Omdnrman on Sept. 1st, aud wis present at the battle of Khartoum (mentioned in despatches,
Khedive's Medal with Clasp) .
r - Captain Eustace served with the Manipore Expedition in 1891 (Medal with Clasp), and during the operations
in the Ohm Hills with the Lushai Column in i8<ii-92 (Clasp).

Graham (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp); and during theoperationsin the Chin Hills m 1891 -92 (Clasp).

with Clasp); in the M'ranzai Expedition in 1891 with the same Battalion including the engagements at
Sangar and Mastan (Clasp); and with the Isazai Expedition in 1892. Served with the Chitral Relief Force
under Sir Robert Low iu 1895 as Orderly Officer to Brigadier General Kiuloch, including the capture of the
M_alakand Pass and the engagement at Khar (Medal with Clasp).

89 Lieut. Johnstone served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895 with the 1st Batta-
lion King's Royal Riflss from the 14th May to the close of the operations (Medal with Clasp).
91 Captain Wynn served in the Afghan war of 1878-80 with the 2nd Battalion of the 60th Rifles, and waspresentat
the occupation of Candahar, and in the engagements at Ahmed Kheyl and Urzoo near Ghuznee ; accompanied
Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candahar (Medal with
two Clasps, and Bronze Decoration). Also served with the Marri Expedition in 1S81 under Brigadier General
MacGregor. Served in the Boer war of i38i with the Natal Field Force.
92 Captain Dwane served in the Hazara Expedition iu 1891 with the ist Battalion King's Royal Rifles (Medal with
Clasp); also in the Miranzai Expedition in 1891 with the same Battalion including the engagement at Sangar
(Clasp) ; aud with the Isazai Expedition in i8qa. Served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in
1895 with the 1st Battalion King's Royal Rifles, including the capture of che Malakand Pass and the engagement
at Khar (Medal with Clasp, granted the hon. rank of Captain for his services with the Hazara, Miranzai, and
Isazai Expeditions, and the Chitral Relief Force).
93 Lieut. O'Shea served in the operations in Burma in 1891 with the North-East Column (Medal with Clasp).
The King's Royal Rifle Corps.
Eaised in 1755 asa Regiment of four Battalions, and entitled " The 62nd Royal An erican Regiment."
Re-numbered " The 60th," 1756. 4th Battalion disbanded 1763, and 3rd Battalion, 1764. Both again
raised 1775 an d disbanded 1783. Raised a third time 1787 (the 3rd Battalion being the present 2nd).
5th (Rifle) Battalion raised 1797 and Rifle Companies added to other Battalions, fth B'attalion raised
1799, aud 7th and 8th Battalions, 1813. 8th Battalion disbanded 1816; 7th, 1817 ; 6th, 1818; the 5th
(Rifle) Battalion the same year, the men being draftediuto the 2nd Battalion, which became "The Rifle
Battalion," the 3rd Battalion beirg stvled " Light Infantry." 1st, 4th, and 8th Battalions disbanded
1819, the 2nd becoming the 1st (Rifle Battalion) and the 3rd the 2nd (Light Infantry). Title changed
to " The Duke of York's Own- Rifle Corps and Light Infantry," 1824, and later in the same year " The
Duke of York's Own Rifle Corps." Title again changed to "The King's Royal Rifle Corps," 1830.
3rd and 4th Battalions raised the fourth time in 1855 and 1857 respectively. The number (60th)
omitted from the title, 1881.
