1 General the Hon. Robert Rollo was one of twoofficers sentfrom Malta on a special mission to Tripoli m 1846,
and received the thanks of the Secretaries for Foreign Affairs and Colonies, conveyed through the Commander in
Chief, for his services upon that occasion. He embarked with the 42nd Highlanders for the East, and served with
the Regt. in the campaign of 1854-55 ; was Brigade Major from the battle of Balaklava and throughout the winter
until he took command of his Regt. including the battles of Alma and Balaklava ; commanded it upon the expe-
dition to Kertch and surrender of Yenikali, and afterwards at the siege of Sebastopol and assault on the out-
works on the 18th June (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Lt. Colonel, Knight of the Legion of Honour, 5th
Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal) . Served as Assistant Adjutant General in Canada at the head of that
Department from Nov. 1855 to Jan. i860, and from the latter date as Military Secretary to Lieut. General Sir
Fenwick Williams till that officer's retirement from the command in British North America in June 1865.
la Lt. Colonel Grogan served throughout the second phase of the Ashanti war in 1874, ana was present at the
battle of Amoaful. capture and destruction of Beequah, battle of Ordahsu (slightly wounded) and capture of Coo-
massie (Medal with Clasp).
* Major Duff served in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the 1st Battalion Black Watch, and was present at the
battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served in the Soudan Expedition in 1884 as
Adjutant 1st Battalion Black Watch, and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai (two Clasps). Served
in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 as Adjutant to the 1st Batlalion of the Black Watch, took part with the River
Column under Major General Earle, and was present in the engagement at Kirbekan (two Clasps).
30 Majors Burton and P.J. C. Livingston and Captain Wilsou-Farquharson served in the Nile Expedition in
£884-85 with the 1st Battalion of the Black Watch, took part with the River Column under Major General Earle,
and were present in the engagement at Kirbekan (Medal with two Clasps, and Khedive's Star).
32 Major Berkeley servedwith the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the 1st Battalion Black Watch (Medal wit
Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
36 Major Cuthbertson served in the Soudan Expedition in 1884 with the 1st Battalion Black Watch (Medal,
and Khedive's Star).
37 Captain the Master of Sempill served in the reparations of the Soudan Frontier Field Force in i836 with the
Cameron Highlanders. Served with the Hazara Expedition in 1891 (Medal with Cla=p).
41 Captain Ciinpbell served in the operations in Burma in 1891-92 as Staff Officer with the Maing'khwan
Column.
42 Captain Souter served in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the ist Battalion of the Cameron Highlanders, and
was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches, promoted Lieutenant into the Black Watch for
distinguished service, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served in the Nile Expeaition in 1884-85 with
the ist Battalion of the Black Watch, and took part with the River Column under Major General Earle, including
the engagement at Kirbekan (two Clasps).
43 Major Turner served iuthe operations in Mataheleland in 1893-94 (Medal). Served in the operations in South
Africa under Sir Frederick Carrington in 1896 as Adjutant and Paymaster to the Mashonaland Relief Force (men-
tioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Clasp).
44 Lieut. Grant-Duff served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of Tndia under Sir Wil'iam Lockhart
in 1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary Force as Commandant British Troops Depjt at Peshawar (Medal with two
C;asps).
