2 Lt. Colonel Cafe served in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the 1st Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment, and was
present at the defence of Alexandria, the surrender of Kafr Dowar and Damietta, and the occupation of Daman-
hour (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William
Lockhart in 1897-98 in command ot the 2nd Battalion R yal Sussex Regiment with the Tirah Expeditionary Force,
including the operations in the Bazar Valley (mentioned in despatches, Medal with two Clasps).
3 Lt. Colonel Donne served in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regimenl
(Medal, and Khedive's Star) ; also served throughout the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 on the Line ol Communica-
tions with the Egyptian Army and as Commandant at Absarat (Clasp, 4th Class of the Medjidie>. Served in
the operations near Suakin in December 1888 and commanded the 10th Soudanese Battalion in the engagement
at Gemaizah (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Clasp) ; also commanded the Battalion in the opera-
tions on the Nile Frontier in 1S89 and was present in the engagements at Arghin and Toshki (mentioned irj
despatches, Clasp, and 3rd Class of the Medjidie). Has also been nominated to the 3rd Class of the Osmanieh for
services in Egypt. Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
