1857-59, including the siege and capture of Lucknow, and operations across the Goomtee under Outram. Com-
manded a Column of troops with the Left Wing of the 23rd Fusiliers in the Bueswarra district of Oude, in-
cluding the capture of the Port of Selhnpore, and two other successful engagements at Julrowlee and Poorwah ;
commanded Left Wing of the 23rd at the defeat of Benee Madho by Lord Clyde at Buxar Ghat (Brevet of
Lt.Colonel, CB., Medal with two Clasps, and mentioned in despatches).
2 Lt.Colonel Mainwaring embarked for the Gold Coast with the 2nd Battalion 23rd Fusiliers in 1873 (Ashanti
Medal). Served in the Burmese Expedition in 1S35-86 with the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, and ommanded
the expedition from Bhamo to Mogoungin 1886 (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Hazara Expedition in 1891 with
the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers (Clasp).
