1 Sir John Boss served with the Rifle Brigade in the Eastern campaign, including the battles of Alma and
Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol, until February 1855 (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the
Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the action of Cawnpore,
siege and capture of Lucknow. Commanded the Camel Corps at the capture of Calpee and during the subsequent
campaign iu Central India (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, CB., Medal with two Clasps). Served
with the Rifle Brigade in the North West Frontier of India campaigns of 1863-64 (Medal with Clasp). Commanded
the Bengal troops during the operations in t,hc Malay Peninsula in 1875-76 mentioned in General Orders of the
Government of India. Medal with Clasp). Commanded the Indian Expeditionary Force which was sent to the
Mediterranean in 1878. Served in the Afghan war of 1878-80 ; commanded the 2nd Division Cabul Field Force
which defeated the enemy at Shekabad (received the thanks of the Governor General in Council and of the Com-
mander in Chief in India); accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar in command of the
Infantry Division and as 2nd in command, and was present at the battle of Candahar (mentioned in despatches,
received the thanks of both Houses of Parliament, KCB.. Medal with Clasp, and Bronze Decoration).
' Lt.Colonel M'Kinstry served with the 5th Punjab Infantry in the Afghan war in 1878-79, and wan present in
the engagement at Charasiah on the 6th October 1879 and the subsequentoccupation of Cabul (Medal with Clasp).
8 Lt.Colonel Milne served with th.; 72nd Highlanders throughout the Afghan war of 1878-80 with the Koorum,
Cabul, and Cabul Candahar Field Forces, part of the time as Acting Adjutant, and was present in the engage-
ments at Mattoon and Charasiab, with the rear-guard of the division at Zaidabad during the night attack of 4th
October 1879, and in the operations around Cabul in Decemberi879 (mentioned in despatches) ; accompanied Sir
Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar (during the latter part of it as Regimental Transport Officer), and
was present at the battle of Candahar (mentioned in despatches, Medal with three Clasps, and Bronze Decora-
tion). Served with the 1st Battalion Sealbrth Highlanders in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the
battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-86
as Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master General to the 2nd Brigade (mentioned in desp itches, DSO.,
and Medal with Clasp).
9 Major Scott served in the Burmese Expedition in 1888-89 with tho 2nd BattalioD Leicestershire Regiment
in the Upper Burma Field Force (Medal with Clasrj).
J0 Major Hyslop served with the 17th Regiment in the Afghan war in 187S-79 with the 1st Division Peshawur
Valley Field Force, and was present at the capture of Ali Musjid and in the first expedition into the Bazar Valley
(Medal with Clasp). Served in the Burmese Expedition in 1888-89 with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment
in the Upper Burma Field Force (Medal with Clasp).
12 Major Griffith served in. the Afghan war of 1878-79 with the istDivision of the Peshawur Valley Field Force
and took part in the expedition into the Bazar Valley (Medal).
13 Captain Mosse served in the Burmese Expedition in 1888-89 with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment
in the Upper Burma Field Force (Medal with Clasp). ,
14 Captain Tarry served in the Soudan campaign in 1885, and was present in the engagement at tne Tofrek
zereba (Medal with two Cla.sns, and Khedive's Star).
15 Major Bunburv served in the Burmese Expedition in 1888-89 with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regi-
ment in the Upner Burma Field Force (Medal with Clasp). Served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under
Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1896 in command of the 13th Soudanese Battalion, including the engagement at Firket
and the operations at Hafir (mentioned in despatches, Khedive's Medal with two Clasps) ; and in the operations
in the Soudan ia 1897-98, resulting in the cipture of Abu Hamed and the subsequent occupation ot Berber
(Brevet of Major).
21 Captain Pearson served in the Burmese Expedition in 1888-S9 with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment
in the Upper Burma Field Force (Medal with Clasp).
22 Captain G. I. Walsh served in the operations in Matabelelaml under Sir Richard Martin in 1897 with the
British South African Police as a special service officer (mentioned in despatches. Medal).
