in General Orders for services during an epidemic of choiera in Oude in 1872. Served in the Egyptian war of 1882
in medical charge of the 2nd Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, and was present in the engagements at
El Magfar and Tel-el-Mahuta, in the two actions at Kassasin, and a,t the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in
despatches, promoted Surgeon Major, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served with the Nile Expedition
in 1884-S5 as Senior Medical Officer to the Camel Corps, Medical Field Inspector on the Lines of Communication,
and Senior Medical Officer at Abu Fatmeh (Clasp).
81 Deputy Surgeon General John Davidge served in the Bhootan campaign in medical charge of the Royal Artillery
from March 1865 to April i860 (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star).
83 Deputy Surgeon General W. G. Don served in the Baltic Fleet and at the bombardment of Sweaborg in 1855
(Medal). Servedin medical charge of a pursuing Column in Malwa in 1858-59, and present in the action of Rajpore
(Medal).
84 Deputy Surgeon General A. G. Elkington served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of
Balaklava and Inkerman (wounded), siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie on the 26th October (Medal with
three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
85 Deputy Surgeon General J. L. Erskine served with the 4th Regiment in the Crimean campaign from the 14th
Nov. 1 S54, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). In medical charge of

91 Deputy Surgeon General B. T. Giraud served with the Baltic Expedition in 1855, including the bombardment of
Sweaborg (Medal). Served in the Indian Mutiny in 1858-59 with the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh Rose
(Medal with Clasp). Served with the 31st Regiment throughout the campaign in the north of China in i860, including
the action of Sinho and storming of Tangku (Medal with Clasp for the Taku Forts). Also in the operations against
the Taepings in the vicinity of Shanghai in 1862, including the capture of the stockade at Nanhsiang, capture by
escalade of the walled city- of Kadin, gunboat affairs at Woosung and Paushan, affair at Nanksiang, and final
repulse of the Taepings from Shanghai in August. Served in the Afghan war of 1880 in medical charge of the 2nd
Battalion 7th Fusiliers, took part in the defence of Candahar (mentioned in despatches), was present in the sortie
of Deh Khoja (mentioned in despatches), and in the battle of Candahar (Medal with Clasp). Served throughout
the Egyptian war of 1882 as Sanitary Officer of the 2nd Division, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir
(promoted Brigade Surgeon, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
92 Deputy Surgeon General C. H. Harvey served in the Afghan war of 1878-80, and took part in the defence of
Candahar (mentioned in despatches, Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star); also
served with the Nile Expedition in 1884 as Principal Medical Officer of the River Column, and was present at the
action of Kirbekan (twice mentioned in despatches, promoted Brigade Surgeon, two Clasps).
93 Brigade Surgeon J. W. Hulseberg served with the 8th Hussars in the Crimean campaign from the 29th January
1855, including the battle of the Tchernaya, and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal) .

medical charge of the Regiment during part of the siege assault and capture of Delhi (Medal with Clasp).
115 Sir Robert William Jackson served with the 90th Light Infantry in the Crimea, from 5th Dec. 1854, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served during the Indian Mutiny; in
medical charge of a Battalion at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, present at the battle of Cawripore on 6th
Dec. 1857, with Outram's : Forceatthe Alumbagh, assault and capture of Lucknow ;. in medical charge of the Camel
Corps at the assault and capture of Calpee ; present at the capture of the Forta of Dehaign and Tyrhool in Oude,
also during the final operations of Jugdespore (Medal with three Clasps). Accompanied Sir Garnet Wolseley to
the Gold Coast in September 1873, and served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74, including the action of
Essaman, relief of Abrakrampa, battle of Amoaful, battle of Ordahsu and captnro of Coomassie ; and was in
medical charge of the 1st Field Hospital from its formation to the end of the campaign (mentioned in despatches,
CB., Medal with Clasp). Served in the operations against Sokukuni in 1879 including the storming of the strong-
hold (mentioned in despatches, Medal) . Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-
el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches, ECB., Medal with Clasp, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star).
96 Deputy Surgeon General J. H. Jeffcoat served in the Afghan war of 1878-80 with the Koorum Field Force, and
was present at the capture of the Peiwar Kotal (Medal with Clasp).
97 Deputy Surgeon General C. M. Jessop served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimea from June 1855
(Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). "Was present doing duty with the Royal Artillery at the capture of
Canton on 28th Dec. 1857 (Medal with Clasp).
98 Brigade Surgeon H. Knaggs served with the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 1884-85

Sehore, forcing the Pass of Muddenpore, battle of the Betwa, siege and fall of Jhansi, action of Koonch, all the
affairs during the advance on Calpee, including the battle of Golo wlie, capture of the town and Fort of Calpee, action
of Morar, recapture of Gwalior, operations in Bundlecund, and affairs of Garotha and Jachlone, and pursuit of Tantia
Topee. Was in medical charge of a Wing of the Regiment in India up to the capture of Gwalior ; mentioned in des-
patches, and thanked by the Director General Army Medical Department (Medal with Clasp for Central India).
101 Deputy Surgeon General E. M'Grath served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and
Khedive's Star).
102 Brigade Surgeon John Mackenzie served throughout the campaign of i860 in North China (Medal).
103 Deputy Surgeon General J. Meane served with the 31st Regiment in the Crimea from 22nd May 1855, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attacks of the 18th June and 8th September, and received a contused wound
