— Served with ist Battalion Gordon Highlanders in
campaign North-Western Frontier, India. Tirah
Expeditionary Force 1897-1898; took part in all
principal engagements, including Dargai, Tirah
Maidan, Warran Valley, Bara River and operations
in Dwatoi Country. Medal Tirah and Punjaub : 2
clasps.- Served with ist Battalion Gordon High-
landers and afterwards with King's Own Scottish
Borderers in South African War, 1890-1901. Present
in advance on Kiraberley 1899, including action at
Magersfontein : operations in Orange Free State,
including actions at Paardeburg and Zand River;
operations in Transvaal, including actions Johan
■nesburg, Pretoria, Belfast 1900; operations East of
