VILLIERS, Hon. Lt.-Col. C. H. (City of London
Yeo.) (Capt. ret, pay). — Served in the Mission to
Uganda under Sir Gerald Portal, 1892. Served
throughout the Mohammedan Rebellion, 1893, under
Gen Macdonald, and throughout the Mayno Cam-
paign under Gen. Sir H. Colville, 1893-4. Received
the official thanks of the Foreign Office. Mentioned
in both officers' despatches (vide Parliamentary Blue
Book, 1894). Central African medal and Zanzibar
star. Col. Villiers raised the Rhodesia Horse in
Matableland, and served under Dr. Jameson in
the raid. — Served in the S. African War,
iSgg-igpo. — Raised and empld. with S. African Lt.
Horse. Spec. Serv. Offr. (as Press Censor and Intell.
