1 The Rev. D. Arthur served in the Egyptian ^\ar of 1S82 attached to the 1st Battalion of the Cameron High-
landers, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star); also served with the
Nile Expedition in 1884-85 (Clasp).
2 The Rev. T. Foran served in the Zulu War in 1879 (Medal). Served in the Soudan Campaign in 1S85 (Medal
with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
3 The Rev. T. F. Falkner served in the South African war in 1899-1900; took part in the advance on Kimber-
ley, including actions at Belmont, Enslin, Modder River and Magersfontein ; also took part in the operations in
the Orange Free State Feb. to May 1500, including actions at Poplar Grove, Dreifontein, Vet River and Zand
River; the operations in the Transvaal, May and June 1900, including actions near Johannesburg and Pretoria
(mentioned in despatches, promoted Chaplain, 1st Class, DSO. Medal with four Clasps).
4 The Rev. H. H. Beattie served in South African war 1881, and went through Transvaal campaign with Natal Field
Force. Was with the operations on the Nile 1889.
5 The Rt. Rev. Bishop Brindle served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served with the
Soudan Expedition under Sir Gerald Graham in 1884, and was present in the engagement at El Teb and Temai
mentioned in despatches, promoted Chaplain of the 2nd Class, two Clasps, and 4th Class of the Osmanieh). Also
served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-8; as Senior Chaplain with the force (mentioned in despatches, promoted
Chaplain of the 1st Class, Clasp). Was present in the engagement at Giniss, ontheUpperNile, on the 30th Decem-
ber 1885 (mentioned in despatches). Served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under Sir Herbert Kitchener
in 1896, including the engagement at Firket and the operations at Hafir (mentioned in despatches, 3rd Class of
the Medjidie, British Medal, and Khedive s Medal with two Clasps) ; and in the campaign ia 1898, including the
battles of the Atbara (mentioned in despatches) and Khartoum (mentioned in despatches, DSO. and two Clasps to
Khedive's Medal).
