engagements at El Teb and Temai (mentioned in despatches, 4th Class of the Otmanieh, and two Clasps). Served
with the Nile Expedition 1884-85 in command of a Camel Bearer Company, and was present at the attack on

91 Deputy Surgeon General B. T. Giraud served with the Baltic Expedition in 1855, including tbe bombardment of

{ Medal with Clasp). Served with the 31st Regiment throughout the campaign in the north of China in i860, including
the action of Sinho and storming of Tangku (Medal with Clasp for the Taku Forts). Also in the operations against
the Taepings in the vicinity of Shanghai in 1862, including the capture of the stockade at Nanhsiang, capture by
escalade of the walled city of Kadin, gunboat affairs at Woosung and Paushan, affair at Nanksiang, and final
repulse of the Taepings from Shanghai in August. Served in the Afghan war of 1880 in medical charge of the 2nd
Battalion 7th Fusiliers, took part in the defence of Candahar (mentioned in despatches), was present in the sortie
of Deh Khoja (mentioned in despatches), and in the battle of Candahar (Medal with Clasp). Served throughout
the Egyptian war of 1882 as Sanitary Officer of the 2nd Division, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir
(promoted Brigade Surgeon, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
93 Deputy Surgeon General C. H. Harvey served in the Afghan war of 1878-80, and took part in the defence of
â– Candahar (mentioned in despatches, Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star); also
served with the Nile Expedition in 1884 as Principal Medical Officer of the River Column, and was present at the

95 Sir Robert William Jackson served with tbe 90th Light Infantry in the Crimea, from 5th Dec. 185}, including
the siege and fail of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and TurkUh Medal). Served during the Indian Mutiny ; ic
medical charge of a Battalion at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, present at the battle of Cawnporc on 6th
Dec. 1857, with Outram's Force at the Alumbagh, assault and capture of Lucknow ; in medical charge of the Carr.ei
Corps at the assault and capture of Calpee ; present at the capture of the Fort3 of Dehaign and Tyrhool in Oude,
also during the final operations of Jugdespore (Medal with three Clasps). Accompanied Sir Garnet VVoiselcy to
the Gold Coast in September 1873, and served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74, including the action of
Essaman, relief of Abrakrampa, battle of Amoaful, battle of Ordahsu and capture of Coomassie ; and. was in
medical eharge of the 1st Field Hospital from its formation to tbe end of the camp iign ; mentioned in despatches,
CB., Medal with Clasp). Served in the operations against Sekukuni in 1879 including the storming of the strong-
hold (mentioned in despatches, Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-
el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches, ECB., Medal with Clasp, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star).
96 Deputy Surgeon General J. H Jeffcoat served in the Afghan war of 1878-S0 with the Koorum Field Force, and
was present at the capture of the Peiwar Kotal (Medal with Clasp).
93 Brigade Surgeon H. Knaggs served with the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 1084-85
in charge of the Base Hospital.
102 Brigade Surgeon John Mackenzie served throughout the campaign of i860 in North China (Medal).
