with the Peshawur Vadey Field Force under Lieut. General Maude, and afterwards with the Khyber Line Force
under Lieut.General Bright, including the reconnaissance in tie Shiliman Valley and the attack and destruction
of the villages of Nargozi, Arab Kheyl and-Jokan (mentioned in despatches, Medal). Served with the 2nd
Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers with the Suakin Field Force in December iS83 during tbe investment
of Suakin, and was present in the engagement at Gemaizah (Medal with (Jlasp, and Khedive's Star). Also served
in the operations on the Soudan Frontier in 18S0.
856 Colonel G. W. C. Rothe served in the Afghan war iu 1S79-S0, and was present at the capture of Ali Musjid
as Adjutant of Artillery (mentioned iu despatches, Medal with Clasp).
858 Colonel T. Rowland served with the 1st Royals in the Crimea from the 29th Aug. 1S55, and was present at the

1882 as Aide de Camp to Major General Harman (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the South African wa?
in 1899-1900 as Deputy Judge Advocate General (twice mentioned in despatches, CAIG.).
865 Colonel H. H. St. Leger served during the Indian Mutiny in 1858-59 with the Soth Regiment in a Flying
Column under Colonel Christie, including an engagement on the banks of the Jumna; also in Ross' Camel Corps
with Sir Hugh Rose's Force, and was present at the battle of Gowlowlie and capture of Calpee (Medal with Clasp).
Served with the Cameron Highlanders throughout the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-
el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served throughout the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the
Cameron Highlanders, and was Commandant of Korosko from the 1st April to the 20th July 1885 (Clasp). Com-
manded the Cameron Highlanders throughout the operations in the Eastern Soudan in 1885-36 under Sir Frederick
Stephenson, was Commandant of advanced posts from the 26th November to 29th December, and was present at
the defence of Fort Kosheh and in the engagement at Giniss (mentioned in despatches, DSO.).
860 Colonel T. A. St. Quintin served with the 10th Hussars in the Afghan war in 1878-79, and w~as present at
the attack and capture of Ali Musjid, and in the engagement at Futtehabad as Orderly Officer to Brigadier

867 Colonel C. A. R. Sage served in the Burmese Expedition in 1886-87 (mentioned in despatches, Breve of Major

879 Colonel H. A. Sawyer served with the Burmese Expedition in 1387-89 (Medal with Clasp). Served in the
campaign on the NorthWest Frontier under Sir William Lockhart in T897-98 in command of the 45th Rattray's
Sikhs, and was present at the defence of the Malakand, the relief of Ohakdara, the operations in Swat, Upper
Swat, and Bajaur, and the engagement at Landakai ; also with the Tirah Expeditionary Force including the
operations in the Bara Valley and the Khyber Pass (several times mentioned in despatches, Medal with three Clasps).
881 Colonel C. E. S. Scott served in the Crimean campaign from May 1S55, in the Trenches with the siege train
at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (woundedi, and bombardments of 6th and 17th June and 17th August (Medal with
Ciasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
882 Colonel C. H. S. Scott served with the 71st Light Infantry in the Crimean campaign from the 7th February
1855, including the siege of Sebastopol, expedition to Kertch, destruction of and affairs atTaman (Medal with Clasp,
and Turkish Medal). Served with the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh Rose, and was present at the
actions of Koonch, Muttra, and Deopoora, battle of Galolee, capture of Calpee, action of Morar, and capture of

885 Colonel Albert Seagrim served with the 1st Royals in the Crimea from the 20th August 1855, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medwl with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
880 Colonel M. C. Seton served with the 67th Regiment throughout the campaign of i86oinNorth China, including
the action of Sinho, the taking 01 Tangku, storm and capture of the inner Taku Fort, and surrender of Pekin
(Medal with two Clasps). Also served against the Taeping rebels in the vicinity of Shanghai in 1862, and was
present at the taking of the fortified stockades at Naizang, storm and capture of the walled cities of Kading,
Tsinpoo, Najow and Cnolin. Served with the 67th Regiment throughout the Afghan war of 1878-80, and was
present in the engagement at Charasiah on the 6th October 1S79, and in the operations around Cabul in December
1879, including the investment of Sherpore (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the Burmese Expedition in 1885-80
with the 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment including the surrender of Mandalay (Medal with Clasp).
888 Colonel J. F. T. Shadwell served with the 87th Fusiliers in the Indian campaign of 1S57-58 ; commanded the
selected marksmen of the Regiment during the Peshawur outbreak ; was present at the mutiny and destruction
of the 51st Bengal Native Infantry on the 12th August 1857 (Medal).
