Bonair Pass on 16th December which ended in the complete rout of the enemy and the submission of the hill tribes

General Chamberlain, and was present at the repulse of the attack on the British Camp at Paloseen, storming the

90 Colonel J. F. Betty served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66, including the Waikato campaign and action at
Orakau (mentioned in despatches) in command of a Battery; also during the Wanganui campaign, and commanded
the Field Guns in action on the Patea river in March 1865, and in other skirmishes on the Wanganui coast, and
present at the attack and defeat of the natives at Kaitaki (Medal).
91 Lord Binning served with the Royal Horse Guards and in command of the Signallersof the Cavalry Brigade
in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the action at Kassasin on the 9th September, at the battle of

in 18S4-85 with the Heavy Camel Corps in the Desert Column, and was present at the actions at Abu Klea and

the Hazari Expedition in 1888 with the River Column, and was present in the engagement at Kotkai (mentioned
in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
98 Colonel W. B. Birch served with the expeditionary force in China in 1860-61 — wounded (mentioned in de-
spatches, Medal). Also in various operations against the Taeping rebels in the vicinity of Shanghae in 1862.

of the Madras Government and approbation of the Commander in Chief). Commanded the Civil Force sent to

thanks of the Madras Government for the third time) .
