56 Lieut, the Hon Robert Bruce the Master of Burleigh served in the South African war in 1900-02 with
the 4th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders ; joined the 1st Battalion 24th September 1900.
67 Lieut. Walker and Lieut. Duncan served in the South African war in 1900-02 with the 4th Battalion Argyll
and Sutherland Highlanders; joined the 1st Battalion 29th August 1900.
5S Lieut. Forbes served in the South African war in 1900-02 with the 3rd Battalion Queen's Royal West Surrey
Regiment ; gazetted to 2nd Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders 18th April 1900.
59 Captaii Cuninghame served in the South African war in 1900-02 with the 4th Battalion Argyll and
Sutherland Highlanders.
°1 Lieut. J. J. Scott served in the South African war in 1S99-1902 with the 1st Battalion Argyll and Sutherland
Highlanders from 17th Nov. 1899 to 9th September 1900 as Sergeant Major and after that date as Quarter Master,
and was present in the engagements at Modder River, Magersfontein, Koodoosberg, Paardeberg, Poplar Grove,
Waterval Drift, Houtnek, Bloemberg, Roodepoort, and Heilbron, and in the operations in the Transvaal under
Major General Hamiliton.
U3 Lieut. MacEwen served in the South African war in 1901-02 with the 1st Battalion Argyll and Sutherland
Highlanders.
64 Lieut. Sprot served in the South African war in 1902 with the 1st Battalion irgyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
66 Captain Macsay served with the Gordon Highlanders in the campaign on the North West Frontier of
India under Sir William Lockhart with the Tirah Expeditionary Force in 1897-98, and was present Ht the engage-
ment at Dargai, forcing of the Sampagha and Axhauga Passes, actions at Tirah Ma. Ian, Waran Valley and. Bara
Valley ; also operations in the Dwatoi Country and in the B ira Valley. Served with the 1st Battalion Gordon
Highlanders and afterwards with the 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers in the South African war;
was present at the advance on Kimberley, including action at Magersfontein on nth Dec. 1899; operations in
the Orange Free State, including the actions at Paardeberg 17th to 2 5 th Feb., Poplar Grove, Driefontein, Houtnek
and Zand River; in the Transvaal in May and Juue 1900, including actions nerr Johannesburg and Pretoria ; in
the Transvaal, east of Pretoria, including actions at Belfast on 26th and 27th Aug. 1900 and L3 - deuburg on 5th to
8th Sept. ; and in the Transvaal, eastof Pretoria, in 1901 (mentioned in despatches, TJVH, Medal with three Clasps).
68 Lieut. J. A. Fraser served in Sonth Africvn war in 1900 with Colonel Lnmsden's Corps, and took part in
.tperatiors in Or.mge Free State May to 29th Nov. 1903, including actions at Karree Siding, Houtnek. Vet River
and Zand River ; in Transvaal in May and June 1900, including actions near Johannesburg and Pretoria; and
in Transvaal, west of Pretoria, u!y 1900 (Medal with three Clasps).
