Brig. uen. Sir Hector Macdonald, January to April 1901 ; attached to Brig. Gen. Sir H. Rawlinson's Column as
signalling officer during operations in Orangre River Colony and Transvaal, 1901; also the operations in Orange
River Colony, Ma3'to 29th Nov. 1900, including the action at Wittebergen (Medal with five Clasps, King's Medal
with two Clasps).

75 Captain Anstruther served in the South African war in [899-1902 with the 2nd Battalion Sealorth Highlanders,
and took part in the operations in the Orange Free Sta'e, Feb. to May 1900, including the action at Paardeberg
— severely wounded (Medal with three Clasps).
7G Captain Thornhill served in the South African war in 1900-02 with 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, and
took part in the operations in Orange River Colony, May to 29th Nov. 1900 (Medal with three Clasps, King's Medal

85 Lieut. Nairne served in the South African war in 1899-1901, and took part in operations in Transvaal, east of

92 Dieuts. Mackenzie, Stewart-Richardson, Hepburn, and Spencer served in the South African war in 1902
with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders (Medal with three Clasps).
35 Major Andersou served in the Afghan war of 1878-80 with the Koorum Field Force, and was present at the
capture of the PeiwarKotal ; took part with the Khost Expedition including the engagement at Mattoon; was
present with the Cabul Field Force in the engagements at Zaidabad and Charasiah on the 6th October 1879, in the
pursuit to the Asmai Heights, and at the occupation of Cabul ; also took part in the engagements at Doaba and
Lataband, in the operations around Cabul in December 1879 including the relief of Sherpore, and in the engagement
at Charasiah on the 25th April 1880; accomnanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march toCandahar, and waspresent
at the battle of Candahar (Medal with four Clasps, and Bronze Decoration). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882,
and was present at the battle of Tel-el- Kebir, and at the capture of Cairo (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
Served with the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 1884-85. Served in the campaign in the
Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1898 with the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, and was present at the
battles of the Atbara and Khartoum (mentioned in despatches granted honorary rank of Captain, British Medal,
and Khedive's Medal with two Clasps). Served in the occupation of Crete in 1897.
96 Captain King served in the Afghan war in 1880 with the 78th Highlanders (M edal). Served in the Hazara Ex-
pedition with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Hazara Expedition in
1891 with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders (Clasp). Served in the South African war in 1899-1902 with
the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, and took part in the advance on Kimberley, including the action at
Magersfontein ; the operations in the Orange Free State, Feb. to May 1900, including the actions at Pairdeberg,
Poplar Grove, and Driefontein; and in Orange River Colony, May to 29th Nov. 1900, including the action at
Wittebergen (mentioned in despatches, Honorary rank cf Captain, Medal with five Clasps, King'sMedal with two
Clasps).
