C Major Davey served in the South African war in 1899-1900, and took part in the operations in Natal in 1890,
including actions at Talana and Lombard's Kop ; was also present at the defence of Ladysmith, including engagement
of 6th Jan. 1900 (Medal with two Clasps).
7 Major Burnett served in the South African war in 1899-1901 as Staff Officer, Glencoe, and took part in the opera-
tions in Natal in 189Q, including actions at Talana and Lombard's Kop; the defence of Ladysmith, including sortie
of 7th Dec. 1899, and engagement of 6th Jan. 1900 ; the operations in Natal from March to June 1900, including
engagement at Laing's Nek, 6th to 9th June; and in the Transvaal, east of Pretoria, from July to 29th Nov.
1900, including engagements at Belfast, 26th and 27th August, and Lydenberg, 5th to 8th Sept ; in the Transvaal 30th
Nov. to Sept. 1901 and Nov. 1901 to 31st May 1902 ; in Orange River Colony March and May 1902 ; and on Zulu.la net
Frontier of Natal in Sept. and Oct. 1901 (twice mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with five Clasps, King's
Medal with two Clasps).
