13 Major W. H. Greenly served in South African war in 1S99-1902 as Adjutant to 12th Lancers 30th Nov. 1900 to
June 1901 ; took part in operations in the Transvaal 30th Nov. 1900 to June 1901 ; and in Cape Colony June 1901 to
31st May 1902 (twice mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, DSO., Medal with six Clasps, King's Medal with two
Clasps).
13 Captain Bailey served in the South African war with the 12th Lancers, and took part in the operations in the
Orange Free State including the actions at Paardeberg and Driefontein — severely wounded at Poplar Grove- — the
engagements near Johannesburg and at Diamond Hill, the operations in the Transvaal east of Pretoria (July to 29th
Nov. 1900) including the action at Wittebergen, and in the relief of Kimberley ; and in the Transvail 30th Nov. 1900
to 31st May 1902. Served afterwards as Staff Officer (mentioned in despatches, DSO., Medal witb. six Clasps, King's
Medal with two Clasps).
14 Captain Macnaghton served in the South African war with the 12th Lancers, and took part in the operations
in the Orange Free State including the actions at Paardeberg and Driefontein, the engagements near Johannesburg
and at Diamond Hill, the operations in the Transvaal eist of Pretoria (July to 29th Nov. 1900) including the action
at Wittebergen, and in the relief of Kimberley (mentioned in despatches, Medal with six Clasps, King's Medal with two
